ALL SET FOR BRANDS HATCH!

After having to wait until August to have their first meeting of the season, the BRSCC South Eastern Centre makes a swift return to Brands Hatch this weekend for a two-day meeting, featuring fourteen races.

The Fun Cup Championship will dominate the track activity today with a four-hour race this afternoon. The 2012 champions, Racelogic, consisting of Julian Thomas, Joachim Ritter & Nigel Greensall, are making a stout defence of their title and lead the points table. However, the Team OBR trio of Tom Pattle, Darren Partridge and Jordan Albert, are only nine points behind so today’s race is vital.

The Vortex Motorsport News Ford Fiesta Junior Championship has mustered their biggest entry of the season so far, which is encouraging news for the junior championship. James ‘JJ’ Ross is in a strong position but Robert Cox and Rory Collingbourne are still confident of catching the Watford teenager. Making their Fiesta Junior debuts are Thomas Grundy and Nathan Edwards, son of ex Ford Saloon racer Barry Edwards.

The growing BRSCC Mazda MX5 Championship races at Brands Hatch for the first time and they field a strong entry of thirty-eight cars, including several drivers making their championship debuts. Cardiff’s Tom Roche is back at the head of the points table after winning a brace of races at Anglesey, which ended the winning streak of James Blake-Baldwin. However, the Farnham racer has shown that he has the pace to live with Roche and he will be determined to reduce the points deficit come Sunday evening.

The Juniors aren’t be the only Ford Fiestas in action at Brands as the senior championship also has a double-header and they have turned out in record numbers. Thirty-two STs will fill the grid in Sunday's two races for Class C, which is currently lead by Nick Bowers from Stafford. However, Nick has the Welsh brothers, Andrew & Matthew Foley, in very close pursuit so every point won at Brands Hatch could be crucial.

In the double-header for the Si, Zetec and Zetec S classes, Ian Scruton, Andrew Mollison and David Abbott are the respective class leaders and all three are racing this weekend. Abbott looks secure in Class D (Zetec S) but Alan Donnelly is still challenging Scruton in Class A. In Class B, Ken Bateman is still in the frame to chase down Scruton and go one better than last year, where he was runner-up to Nik Barton.

As ever, the Arrowpak Euro Saloons & Sportscar Championship provides its wide variety of marques and models and again their entry is one of their strongest this season. Paul Rose, in his Saker, has a comfortable lead in Class A, while Brighton’s Ilsa Cox’s Seat Leon Cupra heads the pack in Class B. Sheffield’s Chris Whiteley and Nick Hayes, from High Wycombe, are also both in a Seat Leon and they are fighting it out for Class C honours. Making their championship debuts are Kevin Dengate and Chris Lovett, both from Whitstable. They will both be at the wheel of a Mazda MX150-R, which is yet another first for the Euro Saloons championship.

The Alfashop Alfa Romeos arrive at Brands Hatch for a single twenty-minute race that will conclude a very busy period for the championship. In recent weeks they have raced at Snetterton and Thruxton and now have to tackle Brands Hatch. Roger Evans looks on course to retain the title he won last year. His nearest challenger is James Ford, but unfortunately James is absent on Sunday, so Evans has a great opportunity to drive home the advantage.
