The scenic Anglesey circuit hosts its fifth BRSCC North Western Centre meeting of the season this weekend with a two day programme featuring 19 races that offers a variety of single-seaters, sportscars and saloons.
Titles will be decided this weekend in both the Pre 90 and Post 89 categories of the Creative LED Solutions Club Formula Ford North West Championship. As they were last year, Ian Parkington and Nigel Thompson are the leading protagonists in the Pre 90 while in the Post 89’s Simon Kinsey is the hot favourite but Neil Patten, Doug Crosbie and Martin Short are all still in with a title chance.
In the Formula Jedi Championship Richard Mitcham comes to Anglesey nursing a slender 4 point lead over Stuart Abbott but with this weekends double header and a further two rounds still to come at Snetterton in October Andrew Ward will still believe he can take the Jedi crown.
Continuing the single-seater theme will be two 20 minute rounds of the Cardinus backed Formula 3 Championship where Morecambe’s Chris Needham leads the pack. Chris could tie up the title at the Ty Croes track but if not it will go down to the wire at Brands next month.
Will Penrose wrapped up the Porsche 924 title a while ago so this weekends battle is all about the runner-up spot which is a two way battle between Kamal Kalsi and Andrew Hannington.
The Motorlawyers.co.uk Fiat Racing Challenge concludes its season at Anglesey with two races on Sunday afternoon. Last season’s most prolific driver Simon McFie is the hot favourite to end the season on a high.
The title battle is very much on in the Dunlop TVR Challenge where leader Tom Stewart is sidelined due to illness. This could leave the way clear for either Danny Winstanley, Andy Race or Tim Davies to take the overall title although they still have to visit Oulton Park next month.
Representing sportscar racing are two series, both new for 2009. The BESCR series for Superbike powered lightweight racers has a three race format each of 15 minutes, while the all encompassing Race TV Open Sports Cars Series has a 20 minute race on both Saturday & Sunday.
