ANGLESEY SET TO HEAT UP ON WINTER RACE DAY

The Anglesey Circuit in North Wales plays host to the final on-track activity of the season for the British Racing & Sports Car Club's North Western Centre. In what is becoming something of a regular feature on the calendar, the Winter Race Day gives a chance for all those who wish to squeeze in just one more day of racing to finish off their year in style.

The Formula Ford 1600 races will close out the Star of Anglesey contest with some top names competing in the Post ’89 class. Talented youngster Matt Round-Garrido has already won races in his first handful of single seater races and must start the day’s racing as a favourite. So too must Irishman Jake Byrne, who is always on the pace in any Formula Ford race he competes in. Other drivers to keep an eye on include David McArthur, Martin Short and Jack Wolfenden.

The Winter Sports & Saloon races provide a wonderful mix of machines on display. Ginetta Junior frontrunners William Tregurtha, Stuart Middleton and Charlie Fagg all make an appearance with the former two in a pair of Ginetta G40s, ahead of an alleged campaign in British GT next season. Fagg, on the other hand, will be out to have fun in his SEAT Leon Supercopa. There’s also one or two BRSCC championship regulars in the mix with Guy Carter wheeling out his Mazda MX-5 and Jeremy Chilton in an Alfa Romeo 156, plus an appearance from Doug Carter's Radical that's featured in the Excool OSS Championship. Oliver Thomas will also be strong in any adverse conditions aboard his four-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza, amongst a incredibly diverse array of make and models.

In addition, our friends in the Irish Global Lights make the trip across on the ferry for their final showing of the year. These guys don’t need large numbers to put on a show, especially with a talented field that can match each other for pace very well indeed. The drivers to look out for in their trio of races for the little motorbike-engined sports prototypes are Mark Braden, “Mad Max” Drennan, Michael Conway and Conor May.

Weather wise, it's definitely going to be a requirement to wrap up and bring an umbrella. Temperatures won't exceed 7 degrees all day with rain expected at varying intensities throughout the day's track activities.
