BRSCC ACQUIRE THE BMW COMPACT CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

The BRSCC is delighted to announce that it has completed the purchase of the BMW Race Days Compact Cup from Paul McErlean, following a successful ‘settling-in’ first season of the championship running with the Club in 2016.
“BMW Race Days has been sold and all rights have been transferred to the BRSCC,” said McErlean. “I’ve got some non-motorsport related projects and it’s now the time to go off and concentrate on those. I’ll still be keeping a close eye on the championship but with its infrastructure and resources the BRSCC is definitely the right club for it. I wanted to transfer it to a club who can work and develop it and continue the growth. The BRSCC did a fantastic job last season making sure the transfer from running with the 750 Motor Club was as seamless as possible and we improved what we had”.
Both McErlean and the BRSCC insist competitors in the championship – which averaged 40 cars last season – will not notice any significant differences after the change in ownership. “The change from the competitor’s point of view is going to be minimal. I’ll be absent after the season opener at Silverstone in April but Dan Collett and the rest of the race day staff are going to stay with the championship.”
BRSCC Competitions Manager, Dominic Ostrowski, said the decision to acquire the championship was an easy one.“We have been very impressed with every aspect of the championship, particularly the numbers on the grid and the very competitive nature of the racing.” he said. “It has proven itself over the years so it definitely works and as a club we are always looking to add prosperous championships to our portfolio and the Compact Cup is certainly that”.
The 2017 BMW Race Days Compact Cup gets underway with Championship rounds one and two at the BRSCC Midland Centre meeting on the Silverstone International circuit on Sunday 9th April.
