The BRSCC has been appointed by Lydden Hill Racing Circuit, to assist them in running the GB round of the new 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship. The event, which is Round 2 of the Monster Energy supported Championship, will take place at the Kent circuit on the weekend of 24th-25th May.

Commenting on the Club’s appointment, Chairman Bernard Cottrell said, “This is another positive step for the Club and will only add to our reputation as one of the best motorsport event organisers in the business. We share the vision of all those involved in the renaissance of Rallycross and look forward to contributing to the Lydden Hill round.”

Lydden Hill is a very fitting venue for the UK round of the 2014 championship as Rallycross was born at the circuit just under half a century ago. In preparation to host the event, Lydden Hill is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment as part of a three-to-five-year plan.

Following the FIA’s decision at September’s World Motorsport Council meeting to approve the formation of the World Championship, the Lydden Hill round is part of a 12-event calendar, which also includes races in Canada, Turkey and Argentina and at new European circuits in Belgium and Italy.
