Caterham Motorsport were the worthy winners of the BRSCC John Nicol Memorial Trophy at the Awards Dinner Dance for the 2011 season, which was staged at the Holiday Inn, Stratford-upon-Avon on Saturday night. The trophy, named in honour of John Nicol, a former Chief Executive of the BRSCC, was presented to Caterham's Motorsport Manager, Simon Lambert, by John’s widow Debs Nicol.

In announcing the award, BRSCC Chairman Bernard Cottrell said, "Caterham Motorsport are very deserving winners of the 'JN Trophy'. They have been great innovators over the years at club level motorsport and now we are all looking forward to seeing the Caterham name taking its place on the F1 grid at Melbourne in just six weeks time.

Via their Academy Championship, they have introduced more than 800 complete novices to circuit racing. It has been a complete sell-out for 17 consecutive years making it the most successful starter race series in Europe and probably the world. Their carefully devised ‘motorsport ladder’ gives Academy graduates a structured path to follow which can return them excellent value on their financial investment in motorsport".

Euro Saloons Championship co-ordinator, Sara Pryce, won the Bert Lamkin Memorial Salver as reward for the hard work she has put into building up the championship and Paul Parkin was named as the Flag Marshal of the season.

There was also a special presentation to Michael Lindsay, who has stepped down after 30 years as the Alfa Romeo Championship co-ordinator.

Despite the wintry conditions more than 300 guests attended the awards dinner and we will have news and photos of more awards later in the week.
