COLE KEEPS HOME FIRES BURNING

CATEGORIES:

James Cole took a huge step towards the MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain title at the Brands Hatch DTM meeting at the weekend.

The 21 year old from Southport held off a determined challenge from American Josef Newgarden, who won two of the three races at the Kent circuit, to increase his lead at the top of the points table. Despite Newgarden's two wins Cole fought back to win the final race to add to his earlier points haul from third and second place finishes.

With just four races to go the Merseysider leads the American by 61 points so has a great opportunity to take the title when the pair clash again at Brands Hatch on the 19th/20th September at the F3/GT meeting.

Of course this probably won’t be the last time this season the two do battle at Brands Hatch as they will be among the favourites for the Formula Ford Festival on 17th /18th October. Last year Newgarden made a sensational Brands Hatch debut at the Festival claiming the Kent crown and will be fired up to add the Duratec title to his CV.
