CROWNING MOMENTS FOR GOUGH AND JARDINE

Changeable weather conditions at Silverstone made for plenty of action out on track with 10 championships competing in the BRSCC summer race weekend.

Stuart Gough and Jamie Jardine win Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Triple Crown
The sun was out on Saturday for the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Triple Crown as Stuart Goughwas crowned Post 89 Champion and Jamie Jardine Pre 90 Champion.

The action started in race one as a battle between Stuart Gough, Joey Foster and David McArthur continued right up to the chequered flag. Stuart Gough took the win with Joey Foster pipping David McArthur to take second place by 0.511 on the last lap. It was a disappointing race for Ben Norton who was forced to retire on lap 14 after a great drive to challenge for third position.

A fantastic drive by Ciaran Haggerty in race two saw the Scottish Formula Ford driver take victory in the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Triple Crown. The teenager pushed his way up from 7th on the grid to take the lead and eventual chequered flag ahead of Joey Foster and James Raven in second and third respectively.

Nippon Challenge & Happy Racer Tricolore Trophy
A chaotic start in race one of the Happy Racer Tricolore Trophy saw the pack fight to avoid Jason Newman’s stranded Peugeot 306 on the starting grid. A great drive by Simon James was also cut short when his Citroen Saxo VTS encountered problems on the final few laps, leaving Carl Chambers to take win. James finished second with Andrew Mitchell in third.

It was a dominant win for Adam Lockwood in the Nippon Challenge. The Portsmouth driver crossed the line with a 1.449 gap to James Janicki in second place to take home his third win of the season. Nerijus Zabotka finished third to take the GT300 class win and the final place on the podium.

The Nippon Challenge and Happy Racer Tricolore Trophy joined forces for the final race on Saturday with James Janicki taking his seventh win of the season ahead of Adam Lockwood in second. Carl Chambers finished third to take the Tricolore Trophy win.

Josh Smith crowned 2014 Excool OSS Champion
Graham Cole, Craig Fleming and Duncan William took victory in the Excool OSS Championship as Josh Smith was crowned 2014 Excool OSS Champion. A flawless drive by Graham Cole in race one saw him take the chequered flag 4.907 ahead of Craig Fleming in second. The Caerphilly driver initially pulled out a 8 second lead before a safety car was called out on lap 12 to recover Mike Roberts stranded Radical SR8, forcing the pack to bunch up. At the restart, Cole pulled away to make it two Class A wins in a row. Craig Fleming took second place honours with Duncan Williams in third.

An early chequered flag in race two saw Craig Fleming take the win ahead of Duncan Williams and Douglas Bowkett. The Taunton driver took the lead from Williams on lap 5 to take Class B honours and the eventual chequered flag. It was a disappointing race for pole sitter Graham Cole who finished in eighth and for Mike Jenvey who spun at Luffield on lap 10 resulting in a DNF.

Duncan Williams took a dominant win in race three of the Excool OSS Championship ahead of Josh Smith and Mike Jenvey. The Excool MD took the lead from Craig Fleming on lap 4, crossing the line with a 27 second gap to Smith in second.

Victory for Robert Cox and Sam Watkins in BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship
Robert Cox took a comfortable win in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship with a 6 second gap to Thomas Grundy second place. The junior driver took the lead from Geri Nicosia at Becketts on lap 3, leaving the championship leader to battle it out with Grundy for second place honours. Grundy and Nicosia provided plenty of entertainment out on track, going side-by-side on the national pit straight at one point but it was Grundy who was to come out on top, leaving Nicosia to take the third and final place on the podium.

Sam Watkins took his first ever win in race two of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship after contact between Robert Cox and Thomas Grundy on lap 13 forced both drivers to spin off track. Grundy managed to rejoin the race while Cox was forced to pull into the pits with damage. The race finished with Sam Watkins taking the chequered flag ahead of Michael Higgs in second and Thomas Grundy in third.

Edward Cockill dominates in Jam-Sport Fiesta Championship – Class A, B & D
Edward Cockill took his tenth win in the Jamsport Fiesta Championship Class A, B & D with victory in both races. The Heathfield driver finished ahead of Peter Daniels in race one, with Lee Dendy-Sadler spinning off on the last lap, handing third place to Jack Williams.

Despite an early lead by Peter Daniels in race two, Edward Cockill was back on form taking the lead from Daniels on lap 2. A fantastic drive by Lee Dendy-Sadler saw the Class A driver battle his way through the grid from 13th to take third from Andrew Mitchell on the last lap.

Double victory for Daniel Holland in Jam_Sport Fiesta Championship – Class C
Daniel Holland took his fourth win in a row with a double victory in the Jamsport Fiesta Championship Class C. The Dagenham driver held onto the lead in race one despite treacherous conditions out on track to take the win ahead ofDavid Grady in second. A spin by Rory Collingbourne at Luffield forced a safety car out onto track on lap 8, leaving the pack to battle it out on the last lap.Andrew Taylor took third position by 0.767 to David Ellesley.

A collision on lap one saw Samuel Priest roll over onto his roof at Becketts, forcing an early safety car out onto the track in race two. Andrew Taylor pulled away at the front at the green flag but the St Alban’s driver dropped down to fifth place a few laps later, leaving Daniel Holland to take the lead and race win. David Grady finished in second and Andrew Mollison in third.

Wins for Christopher Sanders and Martyn Walsh in Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship
Treacherous track conditions resulted in plenty of action in race one of the Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship with five different leaders all spinning out. An early lead byJohn Mawdsley was cut short when the Wirral driver went wide, handing the lead to Paul Blackburn, only to go off again a lap later, forcing him to rejoin at the back of grid. A collision between Rory Baptiste and Ian Webb on the home straight on lap 2 forced both drivers into retirement. Simon Gusterson and Paul Blackburn also collided at Luffield on lap 7 in a battle for the lead, putting both drivers out of the race. Chris Webb led until lap 10 when he spun off into the gravel at Copse, leaving Nick Porter to take the lead. It was all action on the final lap as race leader Nick Porter went off with a broken driveshaft, leaving Christopher Sanders to take the chequered flag ahead of Simon Hill and Martyn Walsh.

Martyn Walsh took victory in race two of the Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship. The Wirral driver took the lead from Simon Hill on lap 14 in the penultimate race of the weekend. Drive of the day however went to John Mawdsley who started from 17th on the grid to finish in second place. Third place went to Simon Hill.

YourIrishShop.com MR2 Racing Series and Carbon8 & Activia Consultants Coupe Cup
Adam Lucas took his second win of the season in the Carbon8 & Activia Consultants Coupe Cup just 0.198 ahead ofSimon Miles. The Wroughton driver applied the pressure on race leader Simon Miles to take position on lap 6. Dave Hemmingway crossed the line in third place to take the win in the YourIrishShop.com MR2 Racing Series, ahead of Peter Higton and Neale Hurren.

Peter Higton took victory in race two of the combined YourIrishShop.com MR2 Racing Series and Carbon8 & Activia Consultants Coupe Cup. The MR2 racer took the lead from Coupe Cup driver Adam Lucason lap two, crossing the line with an 8 second lead.It was all action on lap 7 as Arron Pullan dropped down to 9th place, leaving Paul Corbridge and Jon Winter to jump up to second and third respectively. The race finished with Peter Higton taking the chequered flag ahead of Jon Winter and Paul Corbridge.
