The picturesque circuit of Cadwell Park in deepest Lincolnshire is the venue for the BRSCC Northern Centre’s final meeting of the season, which takes place today and features twelve races.
As with all meetings at this stage of the year, the points won and lost are vital as drivers strive towards reaching the goals they set back at the start of the season. Two solid performances is what Mighty Minis leader Ian Slark will be looking for in today’s double-header. Slark has a healthy lead over fellow Bristolian Paul Rhodes, but he wouldn’t want to give his rival too much encouragement. Plymouth’s Paul Inch is also still in the frame and he will be ready to strike if the top two suffer some misfortune.
It is a similar story in the Super Mighty Minis where Elliot Stafford has what looks like a title winning lead over reigning champion Jamie White. However, both drivers are experienced enough to know that things can change very quickly, especially at this time of the season, so Elliot will have to be on his mettle from the off!
Andrew Dunn is the current Formula Jedi leader ahead of Jack Lang, having won six races so far. Dunn has the advantage but Lang will be doing all he can to stay on terms and take the title decider all the way to the Silverstone Finals weekend next month. Dan Clowes is still within striking distance and not only has he become a proven race winner this year, he is also the best off the line too, so don’t be surprised to see him at the front of the field.
The Track Attack Club are joining us at Cadwell Park and they bring with them some very well supported series. Chief amongst those is the Nippon Challenge, which allied with the Happy Racer Tricolore Trophy, will field a full grid of twenty-eight cars. Adam Lockwood and James Janicki will renew battle in their respective Nissans; a 200sx and a Skyline.
Our own Arrowpak Saloon & Sportscar Championship joins forces with Track Attack’s Carbon8 & Active Consultants Coupe Cup today to race on the same grid. Wayne Schofield looks like a good bet to win the Arrowpak title at the wheel of his 1340cc Suzuki Cappuccino. Meanwhile, in the Coupe Cup, which is for 2-litre Hyundai Coupes, Adam Lucas has been the shining light this campaign.
The YourIrishShop.com MR2 Racing Series will bring the meeting to a close, and hence the Northern Centre’s 2014 season. Paul Corbridge and Arron Pullan will expect to be at the forefront battling as ever for podium positions. Peter Higton will be hoping for rain after his wet weather master class at our Midland Centre Silverstone meeting last month.
The forecast for Cadwell suggests that Peter will be disappointed. There is a slim possibility that there will be light rain late in the afternoon but not enough to give him an edge. The full forecast can be found at CADWELL WEATHER
