Marshals Training Weekend 2013

A pre-season training weekend for marshals has been part of the motorsporting calendar in the North West for a number of years. For 2013 this will take place at Oulton Park on 9th & 10th February. (There may also be courses laid on at Anglesey Circuit at some point if there is the demand.)

Training sessions at Oulton will cover the full range of marshalling disciplines:

  • Post Chiefs
  • Flag marshals
  • Senior/Regular Specialist Marshals
  • Track and Experienced marshals
  • Incident Officers

This gives the opportunity for existing marshals to gain those all important training signatures while newcomers who wish to get closer to the action by joining the ranks of those in orange have a special session dedicated to them on Saturday.

For those people wishing to upgrade to more senior positions, fire training is now mandatory under the MSA Marshal’s Grading Scheme. Due to their expected popularity, live fire training is on the schedule for both days. Even if they are not planning to upgrade, marshals should not miss out on this opportunity to practise these potentially life-saving fire extinguishing techniques.

For those aged 14 or 15, a training session for Cadet Marshals will be staged on the Sunday.

The British Motorsport Marshals Club wish to extend their gratitude to MotorSport Vision for making the facilities at Oulton Park available for this weekend. Aside from the race-track itself, lectures and presentations will be given in some of the FogartyMoss Centre’s suites.

Food will be on sale at certain Oulton’s catering outlets.
