Fun Cup and the new Saker GT Series, both run by the JPR Group, got 2011 off to a great start by scooping the ‘Best National Motorsport Stand’ award at last week’s Autosport Show at the NEC.

Haymarket’s Show Director Ian France presented the award to Race Co-ordinator Roxie Marandi on the Autosport stage on Friday afternoon in recognition of the impressive stand which featured a car from each of the series.

The new season is a big one for Fun Cup as it now has championship status having had 9 successful seasons in the UK running as a series. Equally, 2011 will be an important year for the new JPR initiative, the Saker GT Series, which starts at the BRSCC East Anglian Centre’s Snetterton meeting at the end of May.

Saker Cars UK director Paul Rose was on the award winning stand on all four days of the Show and reported a lot of interest in the new project. “The popularity of the Saker has caught us a bit by surprise. Our initial plan was to sell cars to customers to run themselves but we have had a lot of enquiries asking us to run cars, as we have successfully done in the Fun Cup, so we may have to adapt our plan accordingly”.
