KEITH JONES

CATEGORIES:

It was with great sadness that the BRSCC learnt this morning of the sudden death of Keith Jones. Keith aged just 56, passed away yesterday at his Birmingham home.

Keith was a great servant to the BRSCC for more than 40 years having joined the Club as a marshal after attending a Midland Centre meeting at Mallory Park in 1970. Over the years Keith’s unbounded enthusiasm saw him take on and fulfil many vital roles for the Centre including Rescue Unit Crew Chief, Committee member and Chief Marshal. He also served as a Trustee of the Motorsport Safety Fund from 1986 until his untimely death.

In 2004 Keith trained to be a Clerk of the Course and duly became a National B Clerk and officiated regularly at BRSCC club meetings. In more recent years Keith was closely associated with SRO’s F3/GT package working predominantly as the Safety Car Observer but also helping out wherever an extra hand was needed.

BRSCC Chairman Bernard Cottrell said “This is a very sad day for the Club and for me personally as he was a close friend. Keith was dedicated to motorsport and took on whatever role the Club asked him to. His energy, enthusiasm and sense of humour will be sorely missed by all his friends and colleagues at the BRSCC and throughout motorsport”.

The Club would like to extend their deepest condolences to Keith’s two daughters and grandchildren.
