The Bert Lamkin Memorial Salver, which is presented annually to the Club member who has done most to publicly promote the name and interests of the BRSCC, was won by Kevin Shortis on Saturday night and was presented to him by Chairman Bernard Cottrell.

In presenting the Salver at the Awards Dinner Dance on Saturday night Bernard explained why Kevin had been selected. “Kevin has served motorsport for 21 years and has worked very closely with Club throughout this period co-ordinating several different championships and he also currently serves on the BRSCC South Eastern Centre Committee. Under his stewardship the Ford Fiesta Championship has made great progress achieving maximum grids at most rounds over the last two seasons and a registration roster of over 60 drivers. He also runs the XR2 Challenge which continues to offer good value motorsport and for 2011 he launches the Fiesta Junior Championship which offers a safe introduction to motorsport for 14-16 year olds. Kevin is a deserving winner”.

Kevin was both delighted and surprised to be the recipient of the award. “Having looked at the previous recipients shown on the Salver, I am humbled to be the latest in a distinguished line of winners. I have to say that without the support of my drivers and the BRSCC this award would not have come my way”, he added.
