LAWRENCE HOWLETT COMMITS TO MAZDA MX-5 SUPERCUP

Newly appointed Triple-R team works team driver, Lawrence Howlett, has announced he will race in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup this coming season.

Talking about the move on the Triple-R website Lawrence explained, “It’s a big move for me going back to sprint racing after being in FunCup endurance for last 4 years, but it’s the right time to get back and prove I can do it on my own.

The team at Triple-R are putting together an absolute flyer and I can’t wait to put it through its paces at the first test session. I’ve got a lot of track time under my belt at the UK circuits, so will be bringing plenty of track knowledge to the team along with my karting pedigree that will shine through when the racing is nose to tail.”

Lawrence, former karting champion of the 90’s and British Super One JTKM top competitor, has raced with the likes of F1 super stars Lewis Hamilton and Paul di Resta, DTM star Gary Paffett plus other great peddlers like Mike Simpson (Ginetta Development Driver), Olly Jarvis (Audi Sport) and many more.

Lawrence has also set many fastest laps in Fun Cup, pulling out over a 25 second lead in less than 30 minutes at Oulton Park, plus winning the UK Class at the Spa 25 Hours (5th overall).

“It’s going to be a really close championship, with some great drivers already committed to the SuperCup”, added Lawrence. “The racing is going to be seriously close – with single-make series it’s always going to be ‘door handle to door handle’ to get the top spot on the podium, and we get to do it at the best circuits in the UK. What more could you want from a weekend!”
