Max Marshall has been confirmed as the third man in JTR’s super-strength driver squad for this season’s Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.

The 19-year-old from Leicestershire will embark on his first full season of car racing alongside more experienced team-mates Jayde Kruger and Sam Brabham, and he is relishing the experience he will gain. “My racing career so far has consisted of two Formula Ford meetings in 2011 and two in 2013, plus one outing in the MRF Racing series in India, so my priority is to learn as much as I can,” said Max. “Obviously I want to win races, but my main aim is to gain experience.”

There is no doubting Marshall’s speed – he bagged a hat-trick of pole positions in qualifying at Silverstone last September on his first outing in one of JTR’s EcoBoost Mygales. He took the car over from Dan Cammish, who had already clinched the championship title with it, but went on to suffer a sequence of mechanical dramas which kept him off the podium.

“The EcoBoost Mygale is amazing to drive and JTR is the team to be with, so I have no doubts at all that this season will be a brilliant experience for me. It will be great also to be racing alongside Jayde and Sam, and I know I will learn a lot from them.”

Nick Tandy, boss of 2012 and ’13 champion team JTR, says Marshall is a realistic prospect for top honours in Formula Ford: “We have very high hopes for him. He has shown himself to be very quick and spectacular to watch, and we believe that during the course of a full-season programme with us that we can work on his talents, build his abilities and translate them into race-winning performance. With Max, Sam and Jayde on board this season, I think that JTR has never had a stronger driver line-up.”

Marshall was successfully acquainted with his new chassis last week at Brands Hatch and plans further tests ahead of the Brands Hatch season-opening triple-header over the weekend of 29/30 March.

Formula Ford 2014 will feature 30 races at 10 rounds alongside the biggest attraction in UK motorsport, the British Touring Car Championship. The championship will boast live coverage on ITV4, as well as bumper trackside spectator attendance, and boasts a £30,000 cash prize fund.
