The spectators at last weekend’s Brands Hatch Mini Festival were treated to a fantastic racing display with the BRSCC’s two Mini championships, Mighty Minis and Super Mighty Minis putting on a great show.

With a double header scheduled in both categories the large crowd was treated to four scintillating races, one of which was won by Jonathan Lewis by 9/1000 of a second beating young Zack Booth who harried Lewis and lead frequently during their tense dual. Ben Van Den Bos took the final step on the winners’ podium. Lewis backed that up with another win in race two, although he had to work even harder to hold off a relentless attack by young Booth. Zack is just sixteen years old and it very much looks like Mighty Minis has uncovered another star of the future!

The Super Mighty Minis races were as hard fought as ever with Pat Ford taking the honours in both races. However, the Leeds based driver didn’t have it all his own way and had to fight hard for his victories. The lead swapped around on every lap in both of the action packed races. Elliot Stafford, Bob Bennetts and Jamie White all had a stint at the front of the pack. In the first race, Peter Tervet and White took the other steps on the podium, while Bennetts finished third behind White in the second race after a photo finish deposed Tervet to fourth.
