News MX-5 RACERS HEAD TO SPAIN FOR EURO CUP FINAL PRIZE
This week will see a momentous occasion for two of our drivers that compete in both of our Mazda MX-5 championships, as Godalming’s Oliver Allwood (Mk1 MX-5 Championship) and County Durham’s Alan Henderson (Mk3 MX-5 SuperCup) will board a plane to Spain this week to attend the European MX-5 Cup Final at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona in Montmelo.

After a morning of qualifying, the BRSCC’s North Western Centre entertained the crowd at Oulton Park with 12 fabulous club races on 25th June. Doug Crosbie was delighted to go home with a clean sweep of pole, race win and fastest lap in the Avon Tyres Northern Post89 Formula Ford 1600 Championship. This was the first time he had accomplished such a feat.

Following another great event at Silverstone in May, 4 weeks later and the VTEC Challenge rolled into Rockingham in Northamptonshire over the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June. Running on the “ISSC Long” layout, the assembled drivers set about readying themselves for the qualifying session.

The torrential weather this past weekend at Silverstone for the British GT centrepiece event did more than enough to catch drivers out, so much so that races were force to be abandoned due to the amount of rain and standing water. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only cause for concern after the racing stopped.

Aaron Mason and Rob Barrable emerged victorious from a weather-affected and Safety Car-interrupted Silverstone 500 race earlier today to claim RCIB Insurance Racing’s first British GT4 Championship win, as well as Ginetta’s fourth in five rounds, after starting 16th.

With a large array of various single seaters, sportscars, sports prototypes and saloons, those who attended Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby this past weekend were spoilt for choice in terms of championships to indulge in. Thankfully, whatever anyone was there for, the racing across the board was nothing but spectacular all the way from start to finish.

Despite the fact that summer is supposed to have well and truly arrived, weather conditions didn’t seem so bright at Snetterton for the Summer Race Weekend, with a mixture of tin-tops, historics and an endurance race to get through – all across both days!

Summer is finally here, hopefully bringing some well received sunshine in the process. Regardless of whether the conditions are good or bad, one this is for certain this weekend - the racing should be incredible to watch. It’s a return to Snetterton in Norfolk this time as we feature a selection of contemporary and historic machines all wrapped up into one enjoyable race meeting.

It’s hard to comprehend that it was less than a month ago since we were at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby for a 2-day race meeting. Yet, just as quickly as that came and went, another one is upon us – and this time it’s even busier than the previous one.

How the British GT4 contingent ‘race’ against their European counterparts could have a big impact on the result this weekend, even if on current form one crew stands head and shoulders above the chasing pack. PMW Expo Racing/Optimum Motorsport’s Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson sealed both pole positions and race victories at Oulton Park to take their tally to three of each in the opening four rounds.

One of the biggest British GT Championship grids ever assembled prepares for take-off at Silverstone’s former bomber base this weekend as part of the series’ blue riband three-hour, 500-kilometre event. A 51-strong entry comprising GT3 and GT4 cars is set to do battle around the Grand Prix circuit on Sunday in what could prove a pivotal skirmish in both of this year’s title races thanks to a maximum 37.5 points being on offer to the victors.

Despite being thrown both thunderstorms and scorching temperatures, the runners and riders that made the trip across to Zolder in Belgium this past weekend for the Eurofest Race Meeting put on an incredible display of driving, showing continental Europe what the best of British club racing can do on an away day across the Channel.

However, when you’re a racing driver it’s usually tricky to leave the race track behind, especially when you’re in the middle of a championship battle. Thankfully this weekend will hopefully cater to both needs, as the BRSCC makes what is now becoming its annual sojourn on to the continent for the Eurofest race weekend, this year seeing a return to the mighty Zolder in Belgium.
