Paul Newns, a flag marshal for the BRSCC North Western Centre was presented with the Monty Terrell GPDA Trophy at the Awards Dinner last Saturday. The original GPDA Flag Marshals Trophy is presented annually to a BRSCC Flag Marshal for excellent service during the season. All BRSCC Centres can nominate a local marshal and Paul was put forward by his Centre as the North West's candidate.

The trophy dates from the early 70's and is now named after Monty Terrell, who was the BRSCC's Chief Flag Marshal in that period and won the award in 1976.

Paul Newns is a long standing & experienced flag marshal whose main circuit is Oulton Park, although he has been known to flag at Mallory, Silverstone, Goodwood, Knockhill & even Phoenix Park. The vast experience he has accumulated over the years is now being put to good use passing it on during the on-post training of novice flag marshals. Paul is always happy to help whenever he can and has been Chief Flag whenever required at Oulton and Anglesey.

In making the presentation Bernard Cottrell re-iterated the Club's gratitude for the invaluable service the marshals carry out."I would like to emphasise that the BRSCC is extremely appreciative of the hard work and dedication of marshals that enable race meetings to happen and I’m sure all Racing Members will back me up on that. Many congratulations to Paul for winning the award."
