It was a hectic season opener for the BRSCC Midland Centre at Rockingham with plenty of thrills and spills over the two- day meeting. Donna Kelly has filed this comprehensive report;

DAY ONE

Track Attack Warehouse Nippon Challenge/French Trophy Racing


The Nippon Challenge kicked off the action at Rockingham with the winner of the opening round at Snetterton, Jason Jesse (37), taking poleposition ahead of Jason Sharpe (15) in second and Adam Lockwood (11) in third. In Race 1, Wayne Ward (9) got off to a great start in his Subaru Impreza, leading the pack in the first lap before Jesse (37) retook his position at the top in his Toyota Celica GT4. With just 3 minutes left to go, it was neck and neck as Ward slowly gained on Jesse, with just 0.476 separating the top two in the final few laps. Ward eventually made his move, taking the lead and the chequered flag for the first race at Rockingham. Jesse finished third with James Janicki (19) taking third position on the podium.

The Nippon Challenge was back in Race 5 with Ward having a disappointing start following his early victory, with a problem forcing him to pull off the track after lap 1. Jason Jesse (37) took the lead, pulling ahead of Danny Precious (42) by 7.831 seconds. After a nail biting battle between Precious (42) and Lockwood (11) for 2ndand 3rdposition, Precious encountered some problems, which forced him to drop back. Jason Jesse (37) took a comfortable victory, with Lawtey (78) and Lockwood (11) taking 2ndand 3rdrespectively.

Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship/4TwoCup


It was the Saker Sportscars of Paul Rose (48) and Steve Harris (45) that stole the show in the Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship qualifying session, almost 3 seconds quicker than everyone else in the field. Rose set an impressive time of 1:31:072 to take pole position, followed by Steve Harris with a 1:32:202. In the race, it was Paul Rose (48) who took a comfortable victory, with a 4.179 lead over Nigel Moore (23) in second, whilst Steve Harris (45) came. Dutch racer Theo Berg (461) took the win in the 4Two Cup, with David De Coster (451) in second and Ashley Craig (22) in third.

Vortex Ford Fiesta Championship

2012 Fiesta Junior Champion Charlie Ladell (32) topped the timesheets in the free practice session with an impressive time of 1:44:442, a great start to his debut Ford Fiesta senior session. The top five drivers were separated by less than a second before an incident in the final 3 minutes of free practice – a collision involving James Appleby (27) and David Elsom (40) at the entry into Dean hairpin – caused a red flag and put an end to the session. Elsom was airlifted to hospital but was thankfully discharged on Sunday.

In the Ford Fiesta Class C qualifying session, Charlie Ladell set the fastest time before Bobby Thompson (19) and Daniel Holland (9) went into the gravel at the Tarzan hairpin causing another red flag. In the final few minutes, it was David Ellesley (39) who took pole position with a time of 1:42:930, followed by Nick Bowers (51) and Curtis Mitchell (23) in 2ndand 3rdrespectively. In a change to the advertised timetable, the qualifying session for Class A, B & D followed straight after, with David Abbot (3) showing early pace and eventually taking pole position ahead of Ian Scruton (54) in second and Alan Donnelly (43) in third.

BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship

The new BRSCC Mazda MX-5 championship got off to positive start with a total of 36 entries resulting in the grid being spilt into two groups. A red flag at just less than 12 minutes to go caused a 5-minute delay to qualifying whilst a helicopter landed in the paddock to medevac Fiesta competitor David Elsom. Tom Roche took pole position with a time of 1:47:510, followed by Brett Smith in second position and Ed Gay in third, placing them in the 1A race. The top three drivers in 1B were Johnathan “JJ” Clements with 1:49:907, followed by Chris Hart in second and James Atherton in third.

First out on track was the 1B group. Paul Tucker (68) got off to a good start and took the early lead in the first lap before Chris Hart (22) overtook to pull out a lead of 3.287. In the final few laps, JJ Clements (88) managed to pull out a fantastic lead of 9.905 to Hart (22) to take his first ever win. Chris Hart (22) finished second whilst Paul Tucker (68) came in third.

In the 1A group it was MX-5 champion Tom Roche (1) that led the race from the start to eventually take the chequered flag with a 6.965 lead over Brett Smith (39) in second and Ed Gay (14) in third. In the mid-field, there was a great battle for 4th, 5thand 6thbetween Leach (13), Charman (42) and Goddard (46) with Scott Leach eventually pulling out a gap of 3.100 to take fourth place ahead of Charlie Charman in fifth.

Vortex Ford Fiesta Junior Championship

The sun was out in full force for the Fiesta Junior qualifying session, as were the stars, with BTCC’s Tom Onslow-Cole coaching WDE Motorsport. In free practice, Robert Cox (11) set the pace with a time of 1:48:045 but it was James ‘JJ’ Ross that came out on top in qualifying, taking pole position with a time of 1:46:832. Robert Cox took second with Rory Collingbourne taking third position. It was a disappointing afternoon for Ben Wilcox who had to withdraw from qualifying after his car broke down in free practice.

Toyo Tires Porsche Championship

Regaining champion Richard Styrin (1) was on pole position for the opening round of the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship with a time of 1:38:889, almost 1 ½ seconds ahead of Steven Boyles in second. Adam Croft took third position as a red flag in the final 30 seconds put an early end to the qualifying session. Julian Brown (79) was quickest in Class B with a time of 1:47:537, with Henry Sharpe (64) setting the pace in Class C with a time of 1:48:324.

After an impressive qualifying session, it was a disappointing start to the season for Richard Styrin who pulled into the pitlane after the first few laps with a broken throttle pedal, leaving Steven Boyles (2) to take the lead. As Steven Boyles eventually took the chequered flag, it was all action at Gracelands as Simon Hawksley (3) blew his engine, spilling oil onto the track causing three cars to spin off on the last lap. Class B was won by Printy (26) whilst Henry Sharpe took a well-deserved win in the 924 class, much to the delight of his team on the pitwall.

BRSCC Formula Jedi Championship

Lee Morgan (56) got off to a great start in the Formula Jedi season by taking pole position in the morning qualifying session, with Richard Mitcham following close behind with a gap of just 0.810. Andrew Dunn started in third. In the final race of the afternoon, it was Andrew Dunn’s good start that resulted in him leading the pack in lap 1 before a great battle between Morgan, Dunn and Mitcham for the top 3 positions eventually saw Morgan take the lead. Lee Morgan managed to pull a 4.383 gap over Mitcham in the final few minutes of the race with the podium finishing with Lee Morgan in first, Richard Mitcham in second and Andrew Dunn in third position.

DAY TWO

It was another sunny day at Rockingham for day two of the BRSCC season opener, with plenty of action out on track.

Kick starting the morning’s action was the MR2 Racing Series and Hyundai Coupe Cup. In qualifying, Paul Corbridge (43) took pole position with a time of 1:49:046, followed by Craig Rankine (26) and Ian Davies (27) in second and third respectively. Jon Winter (26) was quickest in the Hyundai Coupe Cup with a time of 1:51:802. Paul Corbridge continued his good form in the race, with a comfortable victory to make it 3 out of 3 for 2013 as he took the chequered flag at Rockingham. Second place went to Arron Pullan (44) with Gary Lawrence (93) in third position. Craig Rankine (26) was given a 10 second penalty for an out of position start, putting him in 7thplace overall.

The Toyota MR2’s were back on track for the last race of the day at Rockingham with Paul Corbridge back on pole. Corbridge got off to a clean start, pulling away from Arron Pullan (44) in second place. There was a five car train for third position with Richard Avery (6) out in front, ahead of Hemingway (5), Lawrence (93), Rankine (26) and Harrison (7). As the chequered flag went down, Paul Corbridge took the win to make it four wins out of four. Second place went to Arron Pullan (44) with Richard Avery (6) in third position. Craig Rankine (26) received his second penalty of the day – a 5 second penalty for exceeding track limits. In the Hyundai Coupe Cup, Jon Winter (46) set the pace ahead of Simon Miles (58) and Adam Shale (66) to take 1st, 2ndand 3rdplace respectively.

BRSCC Formula Jedi Championship

Regaining Formula Jedi champion Richard Mitcham (1) set the pace in qualifying, topping the timesheets with a time of 1:22:167 with Andrew Dunn (17) and Ben Spurge (7) completing the top three. In the race, Richard Mitcham (1) got off to a good start leading the pack in the first lap before losing control at the Dean hairpin, resulting in a retirement. Andrew Dunn (17) took the lead before Lee Morgan (56) closed the gap on lap 6, overtaking Dunn to take the lead. In lap 12, Andy Dunn was caught short as Spurge (7) and Stevens (55) both overtook him on the entrance to the Dean hairpin, dropping from 2ndto 5thplace. Victory eventually went to Lee Morgan (56) who took the chequered flag with a 4.506 lead over Spurge (7) in second place, followed by Stevens (55) in third.

Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class C

First race of the day was the Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class C of with David Ellesley (39) and Nicholas Bowers (51) locking out the front row. Aaron Trigwell and Charlie Ladell both got off to a great start, with Ladell up from 7thto 3rdin the first lap and Trigwell and Bowers battling it out for the lead. It was Nick Bowers who led most of the race, pulling out a 2.736 gap at one point, but David Ellesley (39) stole the show, battling his way through the field after dropping back to fourth place in the first lap, to take the chequered flag in the final lap of the race, ahead of Nick Bowers (51).

It was a chaotic start in the second Ford Fiesta Class C race of the afternoon with a bunch-up at the entrance of the Dean hairpin causing a few cars to spin. A big loser was Charlie Ladell who fell to the back of the field going from 4thto 25th, whilst Joanne Eason (6) picked up some damage and had to limp home to the pits. It was Nick Bowers (51) in the lead with a brilliant start from Matt Foley (82) putting him in second place. It wasn’t long, however, before a great battle between Trigwell , Ellesley and Bowers broke out with Aaron Trigwell taking the lead as Nick Bowers fell from first to third in the Dean hairpin, only for Ellesley to pull the same move a couple of laps later to take the lead from Trigwell. David Ellesley flashed his lights as he crossed the line to take his second win of the weekend at Rockingham. Aaron Trigwell (94) came in second with Nick Bowers (51) taking third place.

Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportcar Championship & 4Two Cup

Yesterday’s winner Paul Rose (48) was on the front row for the Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship. Steve Putt’s stranded Mazda RX7 caused the Safety Car to come out with just under 13 minutes left to go with Nigel Moore (23) leading the pack. But it wasn’t long before Paul Rose (48) was back in front, putting in a great drive to hold off Nigel Moore (23) in the final lap to take the chequered flag with a gap of just 0.610. Third place went to Dave Cockell (5) in his Ford Escort Cosworth. The supporting 4Two Cup was won by Dutchman Theo Berg (461), with David De Coster (451) finishing in second, followed by Silvano Caira (455) in third.

Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship – Classes A, B & D

David Abbott (3) was on pole position for the Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class A, B & D race, followed by Ian Scruton (54) and Alan Donnelly (43). Jack Williams (20) had a disappointing start to his season, pulling off onto the pit exit at the start of the race, before being pushed into the pits by his team. David Abbott took a comfortable lead over Scruton, whilst a great battle between Ken Bateman and Alan Donnelly for third position saw Bateman come out on top with just under 8 minutes to go. In the final few laps, Ian Scruton (54) looked like he might catch Abbott but Abbott responded by setting the fastest lap of the race with a 1:49:576. As the chequered flag went down, it was Abbott that took the win, followed by Ian Scruton (54) and Alan Donnelly (43) in second and third respectively. The class winners were David Abbott for Class D, Ian Scruton for Class A and Ken Bateman for Class B.

In the second race, Ian Scruton got off to a great start to take the lead in the first corner, before dropping back to third place, behind Abbott (3) and Bateman (55). With a clear track in front of him, David Abbott started to pull clear of group, leaving Scruton, Donnelly and Bateman to battle it out for second, third and fourth position. David Abbott (3) took an early chequered flag to win the race, ahead of Donnelly (43) in second and Ian Scruton in third.

BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship

Chris Snowdon set the pace in the BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship qualifying session, with a time of 1:49:524, before a suspension failure for Ray Foley (54) and an engine blow up for Andy Inman (74) caused the session to be red flagged. The remaining 10 minutes of the session was cancelled, placing Chris Snowdon’s (12) in pole position, followed by Chris Healey (62) and Darelle Wilson (9) in second and third respectively.

To make up for the time lost during qualifying, the afternoon race was extended to 25 minutes. Pole sitter Chris Snowdon led the pack with Darelle Wilson (9) in second place, and John Griffiths (6) in third, as Chris Healey fell back. Roger Evans (1) took 3rdplace. Chris Snowdon managed to pull away, leaving a battle behind him for second, third and fourth position, with Wilson managing to keep Evans at bay to maintain second place. Chris Snowdon took the worthy win, with Wilson (9) in second, Griffiths (6) in third and Roger Evans (1) in fourth. Class winners were Chris Snowdon (A), Darelle Wilson (B), Roger Evans (C) and Tom Herbert (E).

Vortex Motorsport News Ford Fiesta Junior Championship

James ‘JJ’ Ross (4) was on pole for the Vortex Motorsport News Ford Fiesta Junior Championship but it was Robert Cox (11) that took the early lead following a poor start from the pole sitter. Cox them ran wide onto the grass at Gracelands in first lap, leaving Alex Reed (51) to take the lead. It wasn’t long, however before JJ Ross was back on form, making a move on Reed to take the lead and pulling away from the pack to set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:47:594. Alfonso Skriczka (8) was given a drive through penalty in lap 5, but managed to hold onto fourth place before losing out to Robert Cox in the final few laps. The race was eventually won by JJ Ross (4) with an impressive 9.813 lead over Alex Reed (51) who took second place, followed by Rory Collingbourne (13) in third. It was another disappointing afternoon for Ben Wilcox (88) who, after missing out on qualifying on Saturday, was forced to retire from the race.

JJ Ross continued to dominate the second race, pulling out a sizable gap of 18:120 seconds to Robert Cox. Rory Collingbourne was following in second but was handed a drive through penalty in the closing stages of the race, forcing him to re-join in fourth position. It was the battle for second place between Alex Reed and Robert Cox that provided the most entertainment with Cox attempting to make a move on Reed three times before making it stick in the final lap. It was a disappointing race for Alfonso Skriczka (8) who came into the pits after encountering problems but was able to re-join the race, finishing 6thoverall, behind Natasha Hussain (1).

Toyo Tires Porsche Championship

It was an action packed affair in the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship. Reigning champion Richard Styrin pulled out a fantastic drive to jump from 11thplace to take the lead from pole sitter Steven Boyles (77) after just two laps. Will Sharpe also put in an impressive drive, setting the fastest lap of the race with a 1:39:872. Luck wasn’t on Karl Rossin’s (41) side as he came off the track just after Gracelands, forcing the Safety Car to come out on lap 6 to recover the vehicle. At the restart, Richard Styrin pulled away from the pack to eventually take the chequered flag in his first win of the season. William Sharpe (66) finished in second place, with Adam Croft (5) taking third place on the podium. In Class B, Bernie Printy (26) took the win whilst a nail biting final lap battle between Henry Sharpe (64) and Antony Mekwinski in the Class C, resulted in Mekwinski taking a spin in the Tarzan hairpin, for Sharpe to take the chequered flag only to later be disqualified. Clive Morison (92) took his place as Class C winner.

Steven Boyles (77) got off to a great start, moving up from fifth row of the grid to take fourth position in the first couple of laps. As Stryin pulled away, a battle for third place was hotting up, with Croft, Boyles, Loggie and Greensmith separated by less than a second. At the chequered flag, Richard Styrin made it two wins out of three, followed by Sharpe (66) in second place and Boyles (77) in third place. Bernie Printy (26) was the Class B winner with Henry Sharpe (64) taking Class C victory. It was another disappointing race for Tony Mekwinski (27) who pulled off at the Dean hairpin in lap 8 with an engine failure.

BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship

It was a comfortable win for Simon Baldwin (48) in the BRSCC MX-5 2B race, leading the pack from the start to take the chequered flag at Rockingham. A great battle between Coombs & Jackson for second place finished with Jackson taking second, before Coombs (36) and O’Connor (117) battled it out for third position, right up to the finish line were Dan O’Connor managed to take third position. Matteo Cianfoni (35) was given a 5-second penalty for exceeding track limits whilst Chris Evans (33) retired on lap 7.

In race 2A, Tom Roche got off to a great start with Brett Smith initially plying some pressure on the race leader, before Roche responded by setting the fastest lap, pulling out a 3.655 lead to take the chequered flag. Brett Smith (39) finished in second place, with Ed Gay (14) completing the podium line-up. Chris Hart (22) was given a 5 second penalty for exceeding track limits.

As the chequered flag went down, Paul Corbridge took the win to make it four wins out of four. Second place went to Arron Pullan (44) with Richard Avery (6) in third position. Craig Rankine (26) received his second penalty of the day – a 5 second penalty for exceeding track limits. In the Hyundai Coupe Cup, Jon Winter (46) set the pace ahead of Simon Miles (58) and Adam Shale (66) to take 1st, 2ndand 3rdplace respectively.

BRSCC Formula Jedi Championship

Regaining Formula Jedi champion Richard Mitcham (1) set the pace in qualifying, topping the timesheets with a time of 1:22:167 with Andrew Dunn (17) and Ben Spurge (7) completing the top three. In the race, Richard Mitcham (1) got off to a good start leading the pack in the first lap before losing control at the Dean hairpin, resulting in a retirement. Andrew Dunn (17) took the lead before Lee Morgan (56) closed the gap on lap 6, overtaking Dunn to take the lead. In lap 12, Andy Dunn was caught short as Spurge (7) and Stevens (55) both overtook him on the entrance to the Dean hairpin, dropping from 2ndto 5thplace. Victory eventually went to Lee Morgan (56) who took the chequered flag with a 4.506 lead over Spurge (7) in second place, followed by Stevens (55) in third.

Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class C

First race of the day was the Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class C of with David Ellesley (39) and Nicholas Bowers (51) locking out the front row. Aaron Trigwell and Charlie Ladell both got off to a great start, with Ladell up from 7thto 3rdin the first lap and Trigwell and Bowers battling it out for the lead. It was Nick Bowers who led most of the race, pulling out a 2.736 gap at one point, but David Ellesley (39) stole the show, battling his way through the field after dropping back to fourth place in the first lap, to take the chequered flag in the final lap of the race, ahead of Nick Bowers (51).

It was a chaotic start in the second Ford Fiesta Class C race of the afternoon with a bunch-up at the entrance of the Dean hairpin causing a few cars to spin. A big loser was Charlie Ladell who fell to the back of the field going from 4thto 25th, whilst Joanne Eason (6) picked up some damage and had to limp home to the pits. It was Nick Bowers (51) in the lead with a brilliant start from Matt Foley (82) putting him in second place. It wasn’t long, however, before a great battle between Trigwell , Ellesley and Bowers broke out with Aaron Trigwell taking the lead as Nick Bowers fell from first to third in the Dean hairpin, only for Ellesley to pull the same move a couple of laps later to take the lead from Trigwell. David Ellesley flashed his lights as he crossed the line to take his second win of the weekend at Rockingham. Aaron Trigwell (94) came in second with Nick Bowers (51) taking third place.

Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportcar Championship & 4Two Cup

Yesterday’s winner Paul Rose (48) was on the front row for the Arrowpak Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship. Steve Putt’s stranded Mazda RX7 caused the Safety Car to come out with just under 13 minutes left to go with Nigel Moore (23) leading the pack. But it wasn’t long before Paul Rose (48) was back in front, putting in a great drive to hold off Nigel Moore (23) in the final lap to take the chequered flag with a gap of just 0.610. Third place went to Dave Cockell (5) in his Ford Escort Cosworth. The supporting 4Two Cup was won by Dutchman Theo Berg (461), with David De Coster (451) finishing in second, followed by Silvano Caira (455) in third.

Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship – Classes A, B & D

David Abbott (3) was on pole position for the Vortex Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship Class A, B & D race, followed by Ian Scruton (54) and Alan Donnelly (43). Jack Williams (20) had a disappointing start to his season, pulling off onto the pit exit at the start of the race, before being pushed into the pits by his team. David Abbott took a comfortable lead over Scruton, whilst a great battle between Ken Bateman and Alan Donnelly for third position saw Bateman come out on top with just under 8 minutes to go. In the final few laps, Ian Scruton (54) looked like he might catch Abbott but Abbott responded by setting the fastest lap of the race with a 1:49:576. As the chequered flag went down, it was Abbott that took the win, followed by Ian Scruton (54) and Alan Donnelly (43) in second and third respectively. The class winners were David Abbott for Class D, Ian Scruton for Class A and Ken Bateman for Class B.

In the second race, Ian Scruton got off to a great start to take the lead in the first corner, before dropping back to third place, behind Abbott (3) and Bateman (55). With a clear track in front of him, David Abbott started to pull clear of group, leaving Scruton, Donnelly and Bateman to battle it out for second, third and fourth position. David Abbott (3) took an early chequered flag to win the race, ahead of Donnelly (43) in second and Ian Scruton in third.

BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship

Chris Snowdon set the pace in the BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship qualifying session, with a time of 1:49:524, before a suspension failure for Ray Foley (54) and an engine blow up for Andy Inman (74) caused the session to be red flagged. The remaining 10 minutes of the session was cancelled, placing Chris Snowdon’s (12) in pole position, followed by Chris Healey (62) and Darelle Wilson (9) in second and third respectively.

To make up for the time lost during qualifying, the afternoon race was extended to 25 minutes. Pole sitter Chris Snowdon led the pack with Darelle Wilson (9) in second place, and John Griffiths (6) in third, as Chris Healey fell back. Roger Evans (1) took 3rdplace. Chris Snowdon managed to pull away, leaving a battle behind him for second, third and fourth position, with Wilson managing to keep Evans at bay to maintain second place. Chris Snowdon took the worthy win, with Wilson (9) in second, Griffiths (6) in third and Roger Evans (1) in fourth. Class winners were Chris Snowdon (A), Darelle Wilson (B), Roger Evans (C) and Tom Herbert (E).

Vortex Motorsport News Ford Fiesta Junior Championship

James ‘JJ’ Ross (4) was on pole for the Vortex Motorsport News Ford Fiesta Junior Championship but it was Robert Cox (11) that took the early lead following a poor start from the pole sitter. Cox them ran wide onto the grass at Gracelands in first lap, leaving Alex Reed (51) to take the lead. It wasn’t long, however before JJ Ross was back on form, making a move on Reed to take the lead and pulling away from the pack to set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:47:594. Alfonso Skriczka (8) was given a drive through penalty in lap 5, but managed to hold onto fourth place before losing out to Robert Cox in the final few laps. The race was eventually won by JJ Ross (4) with an impressive 9.813 lead over Alex Reed (51) who took second place, followed by Rory Collingbourne (13) in third. It was another disappointing afternoon for Ben Wilcox (88) who, after missing out on qualifying on Saturday, was forced to retire from the race.

JJ Ross continued to dominate the second race, pulling out a sizable gap of 18:120 seconds to Robert Cox. Rory Collingbourne was following in second but was handed a drive through penalty in the closing stages of the race, forcing him to re-join in fourth position. It was the battle for second place between Alex Reed and Robert Cox that provided the most entertainment with Cox attempting to make a move on Reed three times before making it stick in the final lap. It was a disappointing race for Alfonso Skriczka (8) who came into the pits after encountering problems but was able to re-join the race, finishing 6thoverall, behind Natasha Hussain (1).

Toyo Tires Porsche Championship

It was an action packed affair in the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship. Reigning champion Richard Styrin pulled out a fantastic drive to jump from 11thplace to take the lead from pole sitter Steven Boyles (77) after just two laps. Will Sharpe also put in an impressive drive, setting the fastest lap of the race with a 1:39:872. Luck wasn’t on Karl Rossin’s (41) side as he came off the track just after Gracelands, forcing the Safety Car to come out on lap 6 to recover the vehicle. At the restart, Richard Styrin pulled away from the pack to eventually take the chequered flag in his first win of the season. William Sharpe (66) finished in second place, with Adam Croft (5) taking third place on the podium. In Class B, Bernie Printy (26) took the win whilst a nail biting final lap battle between Henry Sharpe (64) and Antony Mekwinski in the Class C, resulted in Mekwinski taking a spin in the Tarzan hairpin, for Sharpe to take the chequered flag only to later be disqualified. Clive Morison (92) took his place as Class C winner.

It was Richard Styrin who dominated again in the second Toyo Tires Porsche race of the day, taking an early lead ahead of William Sharpe (66) and Adam Croft (5). Steven Boyles (77) got off to a great start, moving up from fifth row of the grid to take fourth position in the first couple of laps. As Stryin pulled away, a battle for third place was hotting up, with Croft, Boyles, Loggie and Greensmith separated by less than a second. At the chequered flag, Richard Styrin made it two wins out of three, followed by Sharpe (66) in second place and Boyles (77) in third place. Bernie Printy (26) was the Class B winner with Henry Sharpe (64) taking Class C victory. It was another disappointing race for Tony Mekwinski (27) who pulled off at the Dean hairpin in lap 8 with an engine failure.

BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship

It was a comfortable win for Simon Baldwin (48) in the BRSCC MX-5 2B race, leading the pack from the start to take the chequered flag at Rockingham. A great battle between Coombs & Jackson for second place finished with Jackson taking second, before Coombs (36) and O’Connor (117) battled it out for third position, right up to the finish line were Dan O’Connor managed to take third position. Matteo Cianfoni (35) was given a 5-second penalty for exceeding track limits whilst Chris Evans (33) retired on lap 7.

In race 2A, Tom Roche got off to a great start with Brett Smith initially plying some pressure on the race leader, before Roche responded by setting the fastest lap, pulling out a 3.655 lead to take the chequered flag. Brett Smith (39) finished in second place, with Ed Gay (14) completing the podium line-up. Chris Hart (22) was given a 5 second penalty for exceeding track limits.
