The BRSCC Midland Centre is at Silverstone this weekend for a two day meeting featuring 11 races on the 1.639 miles of the National Circuit. With temperatures forecast in the late 20’s it’s going to be hot weekend both on and off the track!

Dominating the schedule on Saturday is the FunCup which will see over 30 different teams battling it out in a 4 hour test of skill, endurance and concentration. Team RAM, who came second at the last round will be hoping to take advantage of the absence of the Rockingham winners Traqmate Eclipse.

The only other race on Saturday is for the SRCC Sports 2000 Pinto Championship where Andy Mathew will be renewing his Cadwell Park battle with David Houghton, Peter Needham, Charles Fogg and Jim McDougall.

The focus on Sunday turns towards the Competition Car Insurance/Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship which travels to Silverstone with a record 46 entries. The National Circuit is a demanding track but the Fiesta drivers will be up for the challenge with plenty of points to be won in the double header.

In Class A, Tim Bennett shares the lead with Ed Cockill closely followed by Ruari Fairbairns and Richard Durham. In Class B, Harry Cockill heads the previous leader Scott Baines by 17 points with Ken Bateman third. The battle for Class C has Jeremy Gumbley on 91 points leading from Mark Tilbury and Scotland’s Rory Bryant.

The SRCC Sports 2000 Duratec Championship has a 30 minute race on Sunday afternoon. Neil Burroughs tops the points table in his Gunn TS10 but Mike Jenvey has now found his pace in the new March so it should prove to be a very interesting half an hour.

Joining forces with a combined grid for a double header is the Porsche GT3 Cup and Class 2 of the Porsche Club Championship. Jim Geddie will be confident of success having won both GT3 Cup races at Brands Hatch in April. In Class 2 of the Porsche Club Championship Keighley’s Chris Dyer is the man in form having already racked up three race wins. In Class 1, which will have two separate races another Yorkshireman, Mark McAleer, is the clear favourite as he is yet unbeaten after four rounds.
