SINCLAIR RETAINS OSS CROWN

Tony Sinclair from Merstham in Surrey retained the BRSCC OSS Championship at Snetterton over the weekend with a brace of comfortable race wins on the new 300 circuit.
At the wheel of his trusty Jade 3 Sinclair showed a clean pair of heels to his rivals to secure successive Class A & overall titles with a Rockingham double header still to come. In addition to his title triumph Tony also won the prestigious Archie Scott Brown Trophy for the third consecutive year.
The Archie Scott Brown Trophy is awarded by the BRSCC East Anglian Centre in memory of Archie Scott Brown who was famous for driving big powerful sports cars and was known as epitomising everything that was good about motorsport, which is certainly an ethic that the OSS Championship tries to bring back to British club motorsport.
Ake Bornebusch continued his winning ways to take the OSS Class D title, also for the second year on the trot. However, he didn’t have it all his own way as he faced stiff competition from Matt & Richard Chamberlain, a father and son pairing who were new to the Championship this season in their home built car. They are a very welcome addition to OSS and typify the whole ethic of OSS!
In the Design911.com Porsche Championship David Clark from Southampton maintained his dominance of the Boxster class with two race wins, ahead of Richard Styrin and Gerry Taylor in each. David Clark was also awarded the East Anglian Centre’s Barn Ruche Trophy for winning the first race. The 924 class followed a similar pattern to the Boxsters with Steven Brown winning twice to keep in touch with Clark in the overall standings. Alistair Kirkham was second and then third while Austrian Alfred Piesinger moved into second spot in the 924 points table by following Brown across the line in the second outing.
Competitors in the Saker Sportscar Challenge enjoyed 4 races spread over the two days, but it was Steve Harris from Chipping Norton and Paul Rose from Rudyard who enjoyed it the most with two wins apiece.
The FunCup race dominated Saturday’s schedule and at the end of the 4 hours it was the Spirit Fitness/Team OBR squad that carried the day with drivers Mark Burton, Eugene O’Brien and Jason Simon finishing some 25 seconds ahead of the opposition.
The top three in each of the BRSCC Production GTi Series races was the same, albeit in a slightly different order. The first race saw a win for Spalding’s Luke Schlewitz with Simon Hill from Knutsford second and Andy Knowlton third. Knowlton was third again at the second time of asking but this time Hill managed to squeeze past Schlewitz to claim victory.
The Ford Escort Cosworth of Nick Williamson dominated both Euro Saloons tours winning by an aggregate of almost 15 seconds. Overall championship leader Andy Jordan cemented his position at the top of the standings bringing his Renault Clio home for two wins and maximum points in Class D.
A touch of nostalgia was brought to Sunday’s proceedings with a 40 minute race for the Crossle 9s Challenge, which was won by Andrew Todd.
