The BRSCC have today announced that the headline class at this year’s Formula Ford Festival will be the traditional 1600cc Kent-engined category, which will be the first time since 1992 that the original class will have contested the ‘blue-riband’ Final.

BRSCC Competitions Director, Drew Furlong, explained, “The Kent class is by far the strongest of the various Formula Ford marques, in terms of entry numbers, so it makes sporting and financial sense for them to have top billing. However, we will still offer competitors with Duratec & Zetec powered cars the opportunity to come out and race at the Festival”.

The Kent category will consist of four classes to cater for Post 89, Pre 90, Pre 82 and Pre 72 models with grid space being allocated to all classes in the Final, to ensure all eras are represented.

Formula Ford expert, James Beckett, is delighted to see the Kents taking centre stage once again. "The Formula Ford Festival has a great tradition and history and has entertained crowds for over forty years. The competition remains one of the 'must win' events for single-seater racers and the names on the winner's list reflect this. I am sure that Kent-engined Formula Ford cars fighting for the ultimate Festival prize again will prove popular with everyone."

The 42nd BRSCC Formula Ford Festival will take place at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 26th/27th October and in addition to the Formula Ford action, it will feature the Vortex Ford Fiesta & Fiesta Junior Championships and both the Duratec & Pinto classes of the BigProfile Sports 2000 Championship.

Entry forms for the Festival are now available at Festival entry form
