The BRSCC North Western Centre returns to Anglesey for the first of three visits to the spectacular Trac Mon circuit this season. The two day meeting will take place on the Coastal circuit and there is something for everyone during the 18 race programme.

The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship is the first race of the meeting on Saturday afternoon and if last August’s meeting is anything to go by, the spectators are in for a treat! The entry numbers for this Mk1 championship are always high; necessitating them to be split into two groups, thus there will be six MX-5 races over the weekend for the fans to enjoy. It’s early days but Johnathan JJ Clements is the front runner in the battle to succeed Welsh wizard Tom Roche, who has moved to the MX-5 SuperCup.

The Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford Championship provides the single-seater action with separate races for the Pre 90 and Post 89 categories. The Formula Ford drivers will also be scoring points in the Star of Anglesey competition to determine the best driver of the season to race at the circuit. Jamie Jardine heads up the Pre 90 points table after two rounds, while David McArthur has a slim advantage in the newer class.

Another ‘local’ championship is the XR Challenge, which this year has support from the Wrexham based company Demon Tweeks, allied with Sparco. Saturday is the first of 8 races the Challenge will have at Anglesey, and they, like Formula Ford, have a special award for the driver who accumulates the most points over those races. Market Drayton’s Michael Heath won it last year and he is back this weekend to start his defence.

The rest of the programme is made up of Fiesta racing. Jam-Sport are the new backers of the Fiesta Championship, which has separate races for the very well subscribed ST (Class C). The other classes, Si (A), Zetec (B), and Zetec S (D), run together so there will be four races for the championship in total. David Ellseley is the man to watch in Class C, while Edward Cockill has dominated Class D so far this year.

There will be more Fiesta STs on show in the shape of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, which is specifically for 14-17 year-olds. Michael Higgs leads the way from Geri Nicosia, but the form driver so far has been Rob Cox who suffered a drive-shaft failure at Snetterton last month to prevent him making a clean-sweep of race wins. No doubt Rob will be determined to make up the lost ground this weekend.
