The aim of BRSCC Formula 3, which is organised and promoted by BRSCC for its members, is to continue to make genuine F3 racing come within the financial reach of the majority of its members, by ensuring the annual race budgets required will normally be less than 6% of full British F3 costs. In this way, club competitors have the opportunity to race modern F3 cars at a fraction of the normal costs.

BRSCC Formula 3 Series

The BRSCC Formula 3 series organising team have many years of motor sport organisational, management and racing experience which, combined with their enthusiasm and focus, will ensure the series continues to develop, through being promoted and supported in a highly professional way.

In this way, not only will BRSCC club members continue to enjoy better racing, value for money and recognition, but BRSCC Formula 3 can also act as a ‘promotional springboard’ for other talented drivers who wish to gain experience in F3 cars. They will now have the platform to gain recognition, by demonstrating their abilities in top quality single seater cars, at a fraction of normal race budgets required for all other top single seater series.

BRSCC Formula 3 is for drivers participating in Formula 3 single seater cars with a 2 litre restricted engine built and raced between 1st January 1981 and 31st December 2004, racing in three classes:

Class A - For cars and engines/ECUs built and raced between 1st January 1997 and 31st December 2004, with a 26mm engine air restrictor.

Class B - For cars and engines/ECUs built and raced between 1st January 1992 and 31st December 1996, with an engine air restrictor of up to 26mm.

Masters Class - For cars and any engines/ECUs built and raced between 1st January 1981 and 31st December 1991, with an engine air restrictor of up to 25mm.

Note: A Masters Class driver may, upon entry to the series, elect to run their car in either Masters Class with a 25mm air restrictor, or in Class B with a 26mm restrictor upon an existing Master Class engine. In addition, when electing to compete in Class B, engines/ECUs built and raced during the defined time period (as above) for Class B cars can also be used with a 26mm air restrictor. (In all other respects Master Class rules apply).

There will be an individual ‘Class’ winner from each of the three classes. In order to ensure that drivers from all classes have an equal opportunity to win a simple ‘car weight ballast’ handicapping system will be applied. All cars will be weighed ‘as finishing’ inclusive of all liquids, with the driver on-board at the end of all qualifying sessions and races.

Class A – The total minimum weight shall be 550kgs, for cars built between 1/01/1997 and 31/12/2001. (Cars built from 1/01/2002 to 31/12/2004 will be a minimum total weight of 562kgs.)

Class B – The total minimum weight for all chassis shall be 540kg.

Masters Class – The total minimum weight for all chassis shall be 535kgs.

The series format will give all BRSCC members a highly competitive, enjoyable, professionally promoted and cost effective, premier single seater series. Young drivers like Aaron Steele and Edwin Jowsey have used the BRSCC Formula 3 as a springboard for other ‘series’.

The organising team consists of: John Gray (Manager), John Phillipson (Eligibility Scrutineer) Jon Gray (IT and web designer), Keith Baldwin (founder), Ian Smith (Coordinator).

All drivers wishing to compete in the series must register by returning a completed Membership Application form (see: www.brsccf3.co.uk), complete with a registration fee cheque of £200, payable to ‘Club F3’ and sent to John Gray E-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
