CATERHAM RACE WEEKEND

12 June 2021 - 13 June 2021

The superb Knockhill Race Circuit in Scotland will see the BRSCC visit for the first time since 2018 with seven championships all ready and raring to go for their weekend in the Highlands. After the originally scheduled meeting at Anglesey the week before was forced to be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions in Wales, our friends at Knockhill have brilliantly stepped up to provide all series attending with a place to race!

It’s a full roster for the first time in 2021 for Caterham Motorsport as after the Academy started its circuit racing calendar at Mallory Park a few weeks ago, they join up with their brethren in the Roadsport, Seven 270R and Seven 310R championships in the same paddock. Plus, they’ll also be sharing with the new 2021-spec Caterham Seven UK Championship, as the top-level factory-supported series debuts the new package with slick tyres and uprated suspension, to provide arguably the fastest racing Caterhams in the country in their quest to find the second-ever British Caterham champion. The last time Caterham visited Scotland, they raced anti-clockwise in the reverse direction so this time it might be a slightly different experience when they touch down on the tarmac.

In support, there’s two excellent saloon car series waiting to do battle. The Nankang Tyre BMW Compact Cup has some history at this circuit as their kin in the Scottish BMW Championship has raced here for several years previously. That means the local spectators are no strangers to these cars and will certainly enjoy the prospect of a full grid tackling Knockhill’s unique climbs, swoops and dips as they jostle for position and ultimately, victory.

Another form of race car that the Scots have certainly seen plenty of is Ford Fiestas and there’s also due to be a grid full of them in this year’s well-supported ETSL ST-XR Challenge. With an incredible number of drivers registered for 2021 ensuring it to be their most exciting season to date, a trip north of the border should mean that any rivalries and battles left over from the Croft season opener will surely be sent into overdrive on this unique circuit. Expect a phalanx of Fiesta XR2s, Escort XR3is and Fiesta ST150s all built to Group N specification as they line up to square off in Scotland.
