The Croft circuit in North Yorkshire plays host to the BRSCC and its Northern Centre once again, with a superb variety of championships set to satisfy the tastes of just about any kind of motorsport fan who enjoys their racing on four wheels.
The biggest grids will certainly come from the pair of Mazda MX-5 series, with the Mazda MX-5 Championship for Mk1 models and the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup for Mk3 models both expecting to bring a combined 80+ cars to the weekend at a circuit the drivers love. Croft’s flat but fast nature means that the racing is sure to be tight, close and exciting as they mark the halfway point in their 2020 season. Even at this stage, the championships can still be fairly wide open, but anything can happen in motorsport and in most cases it usually does!
There’s also a new generation of BRSCC Mazda race car out in force this weekend, with the new MX-5 Mk4 Trophy making its third appearance in 2020. The new car marks the next step on the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 ladder and bridges a gap between the MX-5 SuperCup and progression into the lower levels of GT racing. You’ll see at least one of these cars competing in the new BRSCC Clubsport Trophy, which made its debut with two standalone races in 2019. The Clubsport Trophy is a true all-comers-style mini-endurance series that allows a whole host of machines to compete against each other among five classes, set by power to weight ratio. With full grids expected, it’s going to be a busy and exciting 45 minute pitstop race!
Those who love saloon car racing will also be in for a treat thanks to the Civic Cup and BRSCC Fiesta Championship for Honda Civic Type Rs and Ford Fiestas respectively. Both provide excellent touring car style racing on a budget and have helped produce some superb drivers as they moved their way up the racing ladder. Speaking of which, the next generation of top racers will also be in action in the Fiesta Junior Championship, with 14-17-year-old drivers battling it out on track together in some excellent grassroots level circuit racing.
Finally, the single-seater fans have something to enjoy too as the Avon Tyres National Formula Ford Championship will touch down in Yorkshire as well. Wheel-to-wheel racing amongst some up and coming young stars will be a sight to watch, and thoroughly enjoyable at that!
