The Caterham Seven Championship UK is the only nationally recognised top-tier Caterham racing series in Britain.
“What exactly does that mean” we hear you ask…. To put it simply, this is the racing series to find the Official British Caterham Champion. No other Seven-based racing series is recognised in this capacity – plus, like all of our Championships, it’s fully run by the manufacturer.
Caterham has a well-established history when it comes to racing, we’ve been at it since day one – so naturally it’s one of the most competitive and exciting competitions going. To keep the playing field level, every car on the grid is identical, and the car in question is specifically designed for the competition.
A 180bhp 2.0 Caterham Motorsport Tuned Engine, paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, is nestled within the bespoke racing chassis. One seat, no lights, this thing means business. Unlike other national racing series, this is pretty much out-of-the-box competition, meaning the season is included with the cost of the car, and there is no need for expensive testing and setups. It’s all down to the skill of the driver.
Exciting new upgrades for the 2021 Seven Championship UK season includes specifically engineered Avon Tyres bespoke dedicated slick and wet tyres, updated springs and dampers, increased rev limit and durability improvements. The new slick tyre offers a step up in performance to GT4 pace, whilst being sufficiently durable.
Caterham’s industry-leading trackside support team is optionally available to drivers, whilst hospitality in the Caterham race centre is provided all weekend. Professional team support is also permitted in this championship, with several outfits running multiple car operations on any given race weekend.
Qualifying at each race weekend also features a SuperPole shootout after the main session with the top 10 battling for pole position in Race 1. Bonus points are awarded to the top 3 with pole getting 3 points, 2nd place awarded 2 points and 3rd place scoring 1 point.
Created in 2009, the close control of the regulations (as with all Caterham racing) coupled to a car described as “perfection” to drive by some and a specification engineered for long life has made the Caterham Seven Championship UK a hugely popular and highly regarded race series.
