The Seven 270R continues Caterham hugely formula that turns the Roadsport race car into a more dedicated track machine (whilst still suitable for use on the road).
Road suspension is replaced by stiffer dampers and race springs, with a wider track front suspension, while the engine is given a higher rev limit to enable drivers to make use of the improved aerodynamics that come from the removal of the headlights and windscreen (which is replaced by a race aeroscreen). However, the screen and lights can be easily refitted to make the car fully road useable between rounds.
In addition to changes to the car, races are extended to 30 minutes (all rounds are double-headers) to further enhance the challenge, whilst experienced drivers from outside Caterham racing can join the grid at this level.
This is also the first level within the Caterham championships in which professional team support is allowed, providing drivers with the arrive ‘n’ drive convenience they require to enable them to keep racing. Alternatively, many drivers continue to take up the low-cost central support option offered by Caterham to help get them out of trouble should the time come!
Seven 270R forms the third step of the super-successful Caterham ladder of motorsport, which continues in the same, slightly modified car through to Seven 310R.
Seven 310R takes the car a stage further with more power and a limited slip differential, making it the ultimate evolution of the Academy car. Drivers can remain in Seven 310R should they wish, or progress to the 420R championship class cars.

Sharing its calendar with the Roadsport and Seven 310R championships, plus the mighty Seven 420R at most rounds, this year’s Seven 270R calendar features many highlights including a July overseas trip to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium with the British GT Series
