Many congratulations to the Chairman of the Motorsport Safety Fund, Dr Ian Roberts, who has been appointed by the FIA as the Formula One Medical Rescue Coordinator. Dr Roberts will work within the FIA medical team at Grand Prix during the coming F1 season with his primary role being to supervise the response of the local medical team on the track.
Dr Roberts became a Trustee of the Motorsport Safety Fund in February 2003 before taking over as Chairman from the BRSCC's Tim Stock in March 2007.
Dr Roberts is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care and a veteran HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) practitioner. He is vastly experienced in trackside emergency response and is best known within the motorsports community as the chief medical officer of the Silverstone Circuit.
