BRSCC PARTNERS WITH EXCOOL TO LAUNCH NEW ZEO PROTO SERIES FOR 2021

The British Racing & Sports Car Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with Excool to launch a brand new series for sports prototype race cars in 2021, this to be named the Zeo Proto Series.

The Zeo Proto Series has been created by Excool’s Duncan Williams, an experienced racer who has competed in sports prototype racing for a number of years. The series will feature six classes and will be open to any and all sports prototypes and sports racing cars wishing to compete, with both open top and closed top examples permitted to race. The class structure is proposed to run as follows:

Class A       Sports prototypes over 2001cc and all forced induction powered cars

Class B       Open-top sports prototypes between 1401cc to 2001cc

Class C       Open-top sports prototypes up to 1400cc

Class D       SR3 Standard engines

Class E        CN spec and LMP3 race cars

Class F        Invitational class

The planned race format for the Zeo Proto Series in 2021 will be a 20 minute qualifying session followed by two 20 minute races. The series will run over four race weekends with eight races in total, starting at the Snetterton 300 circuit (April 11) before heading to Silverstone National (June 20), Brands Hatch Indy (August 8) and concluding on the Donington Park GP layout (September 26th). Alongside the organisation of the racing, the series will also be providing both hospitality and technical support on race weekend to further enhance the experience for drivers, teams and supporters. Alongside Duncan, and taking a key role in the introduction and development of the series will be Grace Williams, who will also act as series coordinator for the inaugural season.

Duncan Williams commented After successfully sponsoring motoring events around Europe, Excool (who manufacture the most advanced Data Centre cooling equipment in the World) are now embarking on a motorsport initiative to introduce a brand new Prototype race series to the UK in partnership with the BRSCC. The Zeo name is a derivative of Geo and Zero, both of which are synonymous with Excool’s latest renewable source ground pump home heating systems. We also have plans to use our expertise in cutting edge electronics and battery technology to introduce an electric Zeo Prototype race car as soon as 2021”

BRSCC Chief Operating Officer Paul McErlean spoke of his enthusiasm for this new partnership and series, stating “Sports prototype racing has always been a popular form of motorsport around the world and particularly in the UK. With their previous history of this formulae of racing, I’m delighted that Duncan, Grace and Excool have made the approach to join forces and work together with the BRSCC on this new series. Given Duncan’s level of experience and expertise, I’m looking forward to seeing the level of entries and variety of cars that I’m confident they will be able to attract. The introduction of the Zeo Proto Series adds yet another exciting element to what is already shaping up to be a fabulous season for the BRSCC in 2021.”
