CLASSIC VW CUP JOINS BRSCC FOR 2023 AND BEYOND
The British Racing & Sports Car Club is delighted to announce that the ever popular Classic VW Cup race series is joining the club’s racing portfolio for 2023 and beyond.
The Classic VW Cup series caters for pre-2006 VW, Audi and Seat models, with a “GT” category for cars that might not fit within the defined class structure.
On sharing the news that CVWC is going to be part of BRSCC race events for the foreseeable future, Chief Operating Officer Paul McErlean said, “We’re delighted to be able to offer Classic VW Cup racers a new and exciting platform to showcase the series, and we’re sure that by working together we can help their racing community grow and develop further. It’s been clear through all of our communications that their drivers enjoy a strong sense of loyalty and togetherness, and there is a genuine passion to take their series to the next level. We look forward to working alongside Chris and all of the CVWC drivers to make sure we deliver the most enjoyable and successful events for them”.
Responding to the announcement, Classic VW Cup series organiser Chris Adams said, “Right from the start of our discussions with the BRSCC we have involved all of our racers in the process, with the result being a unanimous decision to join for the 2023 season. We believe that by working with what is one of the biggest and most innovative UK organising clubs, we are putting ourselves in the best place to grow the series even further.
Some of our current drivers were involved way back in 2000 when the very first VW Cup round took place at a wet Snetterton Circuit, and this return of CVWC to the BRSCC feels a bit like we’re coming home!”
