With roots going all the way back to the 1980s, the ST-XR Challenge is a long-standing home for Ford saloons and has been providing great racing at a reasonable price for over 30 years, due to the fact that the series conforms to Group N regulations and uses a control tyre to keep the competition as tight as possible.
This championship is accessible to those wishing to compete in a broad range of models from Ford’s back catalogue. There are five classes to choose from, allowing Fiesta XR2, Escort XR3i, Fiesta Si and Fiesta ST150 models to compete on the track at the same time for overall and class honours.
We endeavour to equalise the power to weight ratio of all the classes, so any car has the chance of an outright win. The mandatory championship Yokohama A048R tyre is used for both wet and dry conditions, again cutting down on costs.
The 2020 season has been interrupted somewhat by the global health situation, leading to a revised five-meeting calendar. The usual venues of Oulton Park and Anglesey will still feature, along with an away day to Silverstone, and as an addition to the list there will also be a weekend competing at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire
As per 2019, we hope to secure television coverage again for some of the 2020 season meetings. For 2020 we are delighted to have continued support from our main sponsors. These include title sponsors Hyperdrive Performance Motor Oils, Automech, Polybush and Yokohama Tyres.
