The BRSCC will add another string to our Caterham ‘bow’ for the 2015 season with the introduction of the Caterham Open Trophy.
The Caterham Open Trophy will be five individual events for Ford Sigma engined cars of 2010 Academy vintage or older and is aimed at drivers who haven’t the time to commit to the current Caterham championships.
The exact format and calendar is still being worked on but the aim is to include a practice session, qualifying and two races, plus a two-driver option. The Caterham Open Trophy will consist of five one day meetings at circuits including Silverstone, Donington and Oulton Park.
Commenting on the new series, the BRSCC Competitions Director Drew Furlong said, “Working in unison with the Caterham Motorsport we wanted to provide a home for older Caterhams that are no longer eligible for their official championships. Secondly, the Open Trophy will give drivers who prefer to take a more relaxed approach to racing the opportunity to still enjoy the Caterham racing experience.”
The regulations and final calendar will be published on the BRSCC website as soon as it is available. In the meantime, to register your interest in the Caterham Open Trophy please email abi.hay@caterham.com
