MA5DA CUP READY TO ROCK!

CATEGORIES:

The all new Ma5da MX Cup for Mk3’s is the star attraction at this Saturday’s BRSCC Midland Centre meeting at Rockingham. Sharing the nine race bill at the Corby Speedway are the Pickup Trucks, the Formula Jedi Championship and the 500OA Formula 500 Series.

Seven newly built Mk3’s will take to the track for the two races of the 8 round series. The grid will be bolstered by 10 Mk1’s who are all regulars in the incredibly successful Ma5da MX5 Championship. With more Mk3’s being built the series has a bright future and full championship status is the aim for 2011.

The Pickup Truck racers are on familiar ground as Rockingham is their home circuit and many of the spectators will solely be there for the three races that are all on the purpose built oval. Steve Dance leads the points table after 4 rounds from Pete Stevens & Michael Smith.

Formula Jedi arrives at Rockingham for rounds 5 and 6 of the Championship. This season is proving as competitive as any, producing 3 different winners from the first 4 rounds held at Silverstone and Croft. Two wins for Richard Gittings and one each for 2008 champion Jack Smith and Andrew Dunn mark them out as favourites for wins this weekend, along with 2009 champion Richard Mitcham, who is back in the action for the first time this season. Others to watch who are on blistering form are current points leader Scott Stevens, local driver Stu Abbott and Dan Cook amongst a host of others.

Adding a nostalgic twist to the raceday is the 500OA Formula 500 Series. 18 cars from the early days of the BRSCC will be on show including such classics as Martin F3, Kieft, Comet and several Cooper models.
