The Fun Cup gets the BRSCC North Western Centre’s third visit of the season to Anglesey underway this evening, with a forty–five minute qualifying session, starting at 6pm.

The Fun Cup then dominates proceedings on Saturday with a six-hour race starting after the lunch-break. The Team Honeywell duo of Geoff Fawcett and Neil Plimmer lead the standings in the diesel class with twenty-eight point lead from the Eco Racing trio of Paul Abraham, Tom Mills & Jason Simon. Team Racelogic, comprised of Julian Thomas, Joachim Ritter and Nigel Greensall, leads the petrol class. However, Spirit Fitness/Team O’Br and Scarab/Indigo Racing are still very much in the hunt.

The first race tomorrow morning is for the CFT Services Ford XR Challenge. It is a big weekend for the XR exponents as they have three crucial races over the weekend, all of which are being filmed for a one-hour show on Motors TV. Nantwich’s Craig Brookfield is very much the man of the moment having won the last three XR outings.

Stuart Jones has long since been confirmed as the Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford 160cc Pre 90 champion and Ian Parkington and Graham Leggett have wrapped up classes D & E. However, there is still the Star of Anglesey title to be decided over the weekend’s double-header.

Matters will be more fraught in the Post 89 class where Liverpool’s John Murphy heads the points’ tables for both the Northern and National championships. In the Northern Post-89 title fight, it is Neil Winn who is John’s rival for the crown, while in the National chase it is Luke Cooper who is hot on John’s heels. However, Neil is again right in the mix for the National title as well as the Northern, while David McArthur also has a slim mathematical chance of taking the top spot.

Another healthy grid of cars will line-up for the Arrowpak Euro Saloons double-header, where Andy Robinson and championship newcomer Wayne Schofield are neck and neck for the title. Class D’s Schofield has a ten point lead over Class A’s Andy Robinson. The Arrowpak Euro Saloons is a broad and welcoming church as proven by the fact that Robinson is in a 7000cc Ford Falcon, while Schofield campaigns a 1340cc Suzuki Cappuccino.

For the second time this season, our friends from across the Irish Sea will be at Trac Mon for three rounds of the Reeltech Irish Global GT Lights Championship. Teenager Jake Byrne has had a fantastic first season and forced some of the longer-toothed drivers to up their game.

The Saker Challenge with Enduro Cup will have two twenty minute races on Sunday afternoon, where Alistair Stenhouse’s BMW E36 and Paul Spencer’s Prosport LM3000 will join the Saker Sniper & Saker GT of Paul Rose and Tim Wheeldon. Also joining the invitation class will be a couple of Fun Cup cars.
