It is with great sadness that we have to report that Alistair Garrett died on Saturday afternoon, aged 61.

Alistair had been a major figure within the BRSCC North Western Centre for many years holding several key posts including Chief Marshal, Clerk of the Course and Centre Director, in the capacity of which he represened the North West on the main Board of the BRSCC.

BRSCC Chairman Bernard Cottrell said, “I was deeply saddened to hear the news that Alistair had passed away. Although it is true to say that we had recently had our differences, there is no doubting that Alistair made a massive contribution to the BRSCC over many years, particularly in the North Western Centre. On behalf of my colleagues on the Board and everyone at the BRSCC, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Alistair’s family”.

The BRSCC North Western Centre Chairman, Tom Dooley, paid his own tribute to his former colleague. “Since taking over as Chief Marshal from Jack Standley, Alistair always had the best interests of the marshals at heart and he will be sadly missed”.
