Easter Monday brought a poignant return of the BRSCC to Castle Combe to be part of “Howard’s Day", the tribute meeting for ex-BRSCC Chairman and Vice President Howard Strawford, who sadly passed away in February.

Double headers for Mighty and Super Mighty Minis,Teekay Couplings Production Golf GTI’s and the newly launched Mazda MX5 SuperCup supported the local Formula Ford 1600,GT & Saloon championships who competed on what was probably the coldest Easter Monday race day in years!

The BRSCC series did not disappoint, Damien Harrington and Jonathan Lewis claimed one win a piece in the Mighty Mini races, beating each other by less than a second in both races. Elliot Stafford won the two Super Mighty Mini encounters, again by less than a second from Patrick Ford. Lewis Hopkins claimed a brace of victories in the Teekay Couplings Production Golf GTI races with Mathew Davies and Andrew Clarkson taking the spoils in the highly competitive Mazda MX5 SuperCup.

Local success came to Steven Jensen (FF1600) Andrew Shanley (Combe GT’s) and Rob Ballard (Combe Saloons) in the usual highly competitive and well supported CCRC encounters.

It was appropriate therefore, before the saloon race for Centre Director Alan Jenkins, Centre Chairman Mike Skelton and Competitions Director Drew Furlong to present flowers to Pat, Karen and Emma on behalf of the Club to mark this very special day.

Finally, and most importantly, the Centre would like to thank all the officials, marshals, spectators, circuit staff and drivers who made a bitterly cold meeting a very special day, “Howards Day”.
