The third race weekend of the season for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship for 2023 is the big one, the centrepiece event of the calendar and the one race every team wants to win – the coveted Silverstone 500 on the full Grand Prix circuit, with three hours of competition in store for both GT3 and GT4 machinery.
The fast, flat and sweeping nature of Silverstone’s full GP layout gives the cars a real chance to show off their performance, with long straights to put the power down and beautifully flowing corners that require plenty of mechanical and aero grip to get the maximum possible from each car. Being one of the longest races of the year at three hours, fast and consistent pace needs to be coupled with smart pit strategy and the ability to stay out of trouble in order to succeed and take home the prestigious RAC Trophy.
