FIESTA & CITYCAR RACE DAY

19 June 2021 - 19 June 2021

A circuit that is always loved by many racers up and down the UK, Oulton Park in Cheshire welcomes the BRSCC for its first visit of 2021, a little later than had been potentially expected thanks to the COVID-19 restrictions pushing back the start of the season. There’s a little bit of history to be made at this meeting with five championships in attendance, some of them visiting Cheshire for the first time in years!

One series that hasn’t seen this circuit for a long time is the Fiesta Championship, which checks in to Oulton Park for the first time since 2009! David Nye, a class champion in recent years, raced that day as did Race Car Consultants team boss David Ellesley among others, but both the ST150 and ST240 class cars will be looking to race full speed around the International circuit in a rare visit. One even wonders if there may even be a new series lap record up for grabs! Speaking of Fiestas, the Fiesta Junior Championship is also in attendance, but while it’s been ages since their senior counterparts have travelled to the North West, there has never been an FJC race at this circuit since the championship began in 2012! That means someone will get the honour of being the first-ever race winner here and as a circuit which their touring car heroes have raced on countless times, the young stars of the series will be hoping to emulate them in their own racing exploits on this day.

There’s more first time visitors as the Nankang Tyre CityCar Cup Championship makes its debut at the circuit in its first year as a championship after it launched in 2020. There’s expected to be a healthy turnout of Citroen C1s, Peugeot 107s and Toyota Aygos as they all duel to become the first-ever series champion and with more than 30 cars expected to turn out, it’s certainly going to be busy out on track despite the cars’ diminutive sizes. Having impressed many out on track last year and with a race weekend already in the books in 2021, expect the drivers here to have settled into their new cars by now, which means the potential for more podium finishers and race winners at the front!

Ever a popular series for those of a North Western persuasion, the Avon Tyres Northern & Super Classic Formula Ford Championship brings together enthusiasts of one of the most popular single-seater categories of all time to race on circuits such as Oulton and indeed Anglesey in North Wales. Oulton Park is by far a firm favourite with drivers in this championship, so expect plenty of support in both the P Class for Kent-engined chassis built between 1999 and the present day, and any of the four Super Classic classes for cars built between 1998 all the way back to the start of the formula in 1967. Formula Ford racing is always intense no matter where it takes place, and on a circuit like Oulton Park it’s certain to deliver.

We’re also joined in Cheshire by the excellent Track Attack Race Club, running under the BRSCC banner for the first time this year after several seasons racing alongside us at our events. The superb mix of French, German, Japanese and Asian cars that will feature on this grid will certainly cater to any and all race fans watching, with the Tricolore Trophy, Nippon Challenge, Deutsche Marques Cup and up and coming series such as the 206 GTi Production Cup and the new TT Challenge all set to be competing, as well as the Classic VW Cup which joins TARC for 2021 too. Don’t miss these guys!
