The Volkswagen Racing Cup will get its new season off to a racing start next week (9-12 January) with a stand at the Autosport International racing car show at Birmingham’s NEC.

Pride of place on the Volkswagen Racing UK stand (number 2740) will go to two 2014-specification race cars, a Golf GTI Mk VI and a Scirocco R, as well as Volkswagen Racing UK’s potent road-going Golf GTI Mk VII conversion. There will be a large display also of Volkswagen Racing UK parts and merchandise.

Championship personnel will be on hand throughout the show’s four days to discuss the coming season, technical and sporting regulations and to offer car and technical advice to established and prospective competitors.

Said championship manager Matt Walker: “We are really looking forward to welcoming old faces to the stand to talk about our plans for 2014, and of course to meeting competitors looking to take their first steps in the VW Cup. It is already shaping up to be an amazing season, and we have every expectation that grid sizes will exceed even 2013’s record-breaking levels.”

Meanwhile, on the Milltek Sport stand at Autosport International, the world renowned manufacturer of performance exhaust systems is offering an amazing prize – the chance to race its Golf GTI in the championship with a full, free support package from the team. Full details of the competition will be made available to visitors to the Milltek stand in Hall 8, number 8540.

The opening rounds of the Volkswagen Racing Cup, which enjoys the backing of ECM, CEVA, Hankook, Paragon and Prestige Performance Centre, are on Easter Monday, 21 April, at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire.
