The BRSCC has confirmed the date and venue of the 2012 Formula Ford Festival after reaching agreement with MotorSport Vison – the 41st Festival will now take place at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 27th/28th October.
There had been some conjecture as to whether the traditional end of season event would be moving from Brands Hatch for the first time since 1975 as the regular date, earlier in October, became unavailable due to a clash with the final meeting of the British Superbikes Championship.
BRSCC Competitions Director Drew Furlong said, "As ever at this time of year trying to arrange calendars to suit all parties is a massive juggling act. Any change to the dates for the major series like BTCC and BSB can have a considerable knock-on effect for club championships. It is true that we did discuss taking the Festival to Donington and we are very grateful to Robert Fearnall for the interest he showed in hosting the event. However, for this year a Brands date at the end of October would seem to be the best compromise and it gives Formula Ford teams both here and abroad a good gap between the end of their respective domestic championships and their assault on the Festival".
Scott Malvern won the 40th Formula Ford Festival in October with Ivor McCullough taking the Kent title and Neil Tofts the Zetec honours.
