Gavin Ray is confident the GR11 will deliver results.

Leading Formula Ford chassis builder Raysport International has unveiled the challenger with which it hopes to claim race victories and title success in this season’s Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain and Formula Ford EuroCup.

The Ray GR11 features more than 30 important updates when compared with the Ray which kept Scott Malvern in title contention all the way to the final round of the UK championship in 2010. Ray’s MD and chief designer Gavin Ray says: “The GR11 features many enhancements which we have wanted to include for several seasons but have not been able to. They have all come together brilliantly and I am hopeful that it will be a major step forward. Last year was one of Ray’s most successful ever, with 11 championship victories in various categories, and we are hoping to build on that in 2011.”

Among the GR11’s many improvements are a higher and stiffer chassis, heavily revised bodywork including a lower and longer nose cone, lower and more narrow tail section, new sidepod ducting and airbox; revised weight distribution; and larger rear brakes.

Ray has seven chassis in build currently, the first of which is likely to get its shakedown runs next week. The works team hopes to run two cars in Formula Ford’s premier series this season, and customer team Cliff Dempsey Racing has announced that it plans to race three GR11s, including one for talented American kart racer Neil Alberico.

The Ray GR11 complete rolling chassis has a £23,500 price tag; further details and photographs at www.rayracecar.com
