The BRSCC North Western Centre season gets underway tomorrow on the International Circuit at Oulton Park, in a meeting that will be dominated by the 4-hour Fun Cup Championship race.

Twenty-three teams will contest the Fun Cup season opener, including the overall 2012 champions, the unstoppable JPR/Racelogic car. V-box founder Julian Thomas and racing veteran Nigel Greensall will be sharing the drive and determined to get their title defence off to the best possible start.

As ever, the North West has proved to be the hub of Kent engined Formula Ford racing in the UK and forty-four drivers will line-up across the Post 89 and Pre 90 classes of the Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford Championship.

There are some exciting changes for this year, with all of the top three finishers in the Pre-90 championship (Stuart Jones, Ian Parkington & Nigel Dolan) switching to Post-89 for the 2013 campaign. This will add further depth and quality to the grids for the more modern cars, while opening up a wealth of potential new race winners in Pre-90, with Christopher Stones and Andrew Thomas looking to benefit. It will also be interesting to see how experienced XR campaigner Craig Brookfield gets on, having switched to Formula Ford in a Class A Van Diemen RF03.

The Ford XR Challenge returns to Oulton Park with a new sponsor on-board for this season – Advantage Motorsport who are based on the circuit. There is a very promising grid of twenty XRs entered for the meeting and with the departure of 2012 champion Craig Brookfield to Formula Ford, the championship is really up for grabs. Las year’s XR2 runner-up Mike Heath will certainly be looking to take advantage, as will Tony Rudd. In the XR3i class, Peter Futers and Lee Bowron will start as the early season favourites.
