PROVISIONAL 2015 MAZDA DATES ANNOUNCED AT AWARDS DINNER

The great and the good of both BRSCC Mazda championships gathered at the Birmingham West Park Inn hotel on Saturday night for the awards dinner and a great night was had by all!

Former Mk3 and Mk1 champion Rob Boston was the guest of honour and he handed out the trophies to the first three in both championships.

For the record, the award winners were;

BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship

1st James Blake-Baldwin

2nd Alan Henderson (collected by Tracey Elsey)

3rd Johnathan JJ Clements

BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup

1st Abbie Eaton

2nd Tom Roche

3rd Matt Davies (collected by Ray Worley)

Steve Andrew went away with a cup for the 'Masters' SuperCup Challenge and Kevin Brent was rewarded for winning the most B races in the Mk1 championship.

BRSCC Competitions Director, Drew Furlong announced a new annual 'Spirit of Mazda' trophy to be presented to the person making an outstanding contribution to the championships with Paul Sheard then revealed as the inaugural winner.

Darron Lewis won the best presented car award and Paul Tucker took home the 'Teflon' trophy for the best excuse to the Clerk. The subject of the best podium photo (taken by Jon Elsey) went to Paul O'Neill and was collected by Paul Sheard while Kevin Brent was on-hand to collect the most spectacular crash trophy to rapturous applause. Jon Elsey won the 'Beyond the call of duty' trophy for his exploits at Donington taking the grid shot at the top of a cherry-picker on a very windy day!

Presentation gifts were also made to Mandy Andrew, Bob Marsh, Jon Elsey and Clerks Glynn Lee and Paul Belcher to thank them for their massive contributions to a successful season.

During his speech Drew has announced the provisional calendar for both championships for the 2015 season, which is listed below;

4/5th April Silverstone National Mk1 & Mk3

2/3rd May Brands Hatch Indy Mk3 only

9/10th May Brands Hatch GP Mk1

25th May Castle Combe Mk1 & Mk3

13/14th June Rockingham Mk1 & Mk3

18/19th July Cadwell Park Mk1 & Mk3

22nd Aug Oulton Park Mk1 & Mk3

12/13th Sept Croft Mk1 & Mk3

17/18th Oct Donington Park Mk1 & Mk3
