SPOILS SHARED AT ANGLESEY

Six different drivers shared the two podiums after rounds five and six of the S&G Response Ford XR Challenge which took place on the Anglesey International circuit during the Lancashire RS Owners' Club Track day & Show yesterday.

Mark Robinson was the quickest man in the 30 minute qualifying session beating Steve Poole's best time by 1.6 seconds to take pole. However, that was the high point of the Chester drivers day as Poole turned the tables in the 20 minute first race bringing his XR2 home some 7 seconds ahead of Robinson. Local hero John-Ifan Jones was third across the line and the first in the XR3i class.

Unfortunately matters took a turn for the worst at the start of the second race when Ralph Fernihough's XR2 span at the first hair-pin and was promptly collected by both Steve Poole and John-Ifan Jones, eradicating all three from the race which was red flagged. Mark Robinson managed to avoid the mayhem but his gear-box packed up on his way round to the re-start so he was unable to take his place on the reformed grid.

This left the way clear for XR2 man Simon Sheridan to record his second win of the season taking the chequered flag just 2 seconds ahead of Chris Flynn, who took the Class B win in his new XR3. Jason Hennefer was the sixth driver to step onto the podium finishing a further 2.5 seconds behind Flynn.

The XR drivers now head to Cadwell Park for a double-header on the 4th – 5th June.
