Our busy Midlands Centre will run their twenty-third and final race meeting of the 2014 season at Donington Park tomorrow, when they stage the 1000KM race on the National circuit.
The meeting will feature a day/night endurance race lasting eight and a half hours. The first six hours of the race will be run in daylight, before the Safety Car is deployed to bring the cars in just before darkness falls. After a forty-minute stand-down period for the marshals there will then be twenty-minutes of ‘night’ familiarisation before the race resumes behind the Safety Car in the same order they finished the day-time session in. The night period of the race is a further two and half-hours.
The starting grid is dominated by many of the regular Fun Cup teams, including the 2014 champions Team Racelogic comprising of Julian Thomas, Nigel Greensall and Jon Tomlinson, who sits in for the absent Joachim Ritter. Holding up the Mazda MX-5 side of things is a three-car team of Mk1s comprising of championship regulars Bruce & Guy Carter, Will & Roy Stephenson, and Sam Smith. Historic racer Steve Hart completes the line-up of the ‘Mazda Six’ team.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast for Saturday isn’t the best! Light rain is forecast in the morning before turning heavy just before sunset. You can view a detailed forecast at DONINGTON FORECAST
