Not content with running a meeting at Zandvoort, our South Eastern Centre is also on duty at Brands Hatch this weekend with the Fun Cup Race Day today and then assisting with Tuner Fest South tomorrow. Just like London buses, you wait for ages then three come along together…..

The Fun Cup race dominates the timetable today with an hour long qualifying session this morning before the 4-hour race gets underway just after 2pm. The Scuderia XCat #104 trio of Rob Thomas, Simon Bonham and Martin Harris sit proudly on top of the pile, but their lead is a slender one. Just three points separates them from the next three challengers, all tied on 116 points; the new pairing of Neil Primrose and Welsh Mazda wizard Tom Roche representing JPR Isla Racing #125, Track Torque/2Rent Dominos #98 piloted by Chris Hart and Henry Dawes and the #213 Holden Hawthorns Racing quartet of Andy Holden, Rod Barrett, Martin Gibson and Jay Shepherd.

The Avon Tyres Post 89 Formula Fords will field a high quality entry, all of whom will be battling for points in the National 1600 championship and the Triple Crown. Canadian Patrick Dussault leads the National rankings from Ulsterman Jonny McMullan. Dussault is fresh from winning the F-1600 support race at the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago. The Triple Crown leader is Tom McArthur who will be joined on the grid by brother David. The Pre 90 runners are bit thin on the ground but National leader Matthew Cowley will be present to hoover up more points.

The Pirelli Ferrari formula classic series raced with us at Oulton Park last month and they are back with us at Brands. James Cartwright won both races at Oulton in his 328 GTB so the pressure is on him to repeat the trick. Having sorted out some reliability issues Gary Culver is the most likely driver to ruin Jim’s day.

The Finals, timetable and entry list for today can be found at FUN CUP RACEDAY

Sunday’s Tuner Fest South event focuses on high-end tuning, with hundreds of aftermarket-modified machines set to descend on the venue. More information is available at http://south.tunerfest.co.uk/
