Spring truly sprung at Silverstone on Saturday as the Arrowpak Euro Saloons & Sports Car Championship got the BRSCC season off to a start in glorious sunny weather with a double header as part of the Britcar meeting on the Grand Prix circuit.
Darren Dowling put his TVR Sagaris on pole, just 1.286 seconds ahead of Andy Robinson's Ford Falcon. A very tight scrap ensued between the pair in the first race and when the dust had settled it was Dowling who edged out Robinson by just .597 seconds. Barry Squibb took the last podium place in his Mitsubishi Evo 9. Ilsa Cox won the Class B battle in her Seat Leon Cupra while Ian Craig (BMW E46 M3) won Class C, John Hamilton (Renault Clio) Class D and Chris Boon (Honda Civic Type R) Class E.
In the second outing, Dowling stood down to let his team-mate,, Paul Smith have a crack in the Sagaris and Andy Robinson took full advantage recording a comfortable win ahead of Barry Squibb. Derek Hale (Honda Accord ST) took third and with it Class B honours. Ian Craig racked up his second Class C win of the day and championship newcomer Wayne Schofield had a memorable debut meeting taking a Class D win in his Suzuki Cappuccino. Chris Boon joined Ian Craig in being the early pacesetters in the fledgling points table by also recording back to back class wins (Class E).
