CURTAIN COMES DOWN ON BRSCC SEASON
The BRSCC East Anglian Centre ran the Club’s final meeting of the season over the weekend which started with Night Qualifying for the Fun Cup UK 6 Hours on Friday 13th.
The omens did not look good with the Met Office issuing severe weather warnings! Apart from a Safety Car interlude all the cars survived with the Team Ram car of Richard Ince & Nick Padmore claiming fastest lap in wet conditions. Saturday qualifying again saw Team Ram fastest with JPR/Team SAM-NFI behind them. The mornings 45 minute Sprint Race resulted in victory for Team Ram followed by the Team Honeywell entry of Neil Plimmer/Geoff Fawcett, Happy Racings Jason Porter and Max Hunter taking the final podium place. At lunchtime the Fun Cup organisers laid on a hot meal and drink for the marshals which was most appreciated by all concerned. The 6 Hour grid had Team Honeywell on pole with Happy Racing beside them who were in the lead at the 70 minute mark followed by the Signia Developments entry of Sean McInerney/John Griffiths. At 2 hours 10 minutes Team Honeywell had worked their way up to second place. Intermittent squalls of heavy rain were causing problems with small rivers running across the track in places. By 3 Hours 10 minutes Team Honeywell were in front with Happy Racing 17 seconds behind and the Cuisine de France/Spar entry of ex Rescue Crew member Ian Connell/Richard Connell and Franck Pelle one Lap behind in third place. By the fourth hour first and second were still the same with Signia Developments back up to third. At 5 Hours Happy Racing had taken the lead which they weren’t to relinquish with the final positions being Team Ram in second followed by Team Honeywell finishing third.
