OULTON SUMMER RACEDAY
High summer sees no slackening of the pace at our ever busy North Western Cente. Tomorrow the Centre runs a 10 race programme on the International Circuit before returning to the Cheshire track for another meeting on 13th August. The action starts with the Saker Sportscar Series who this season are being seen on UK tracks for the first time. Sakers are well established and proven in the Netherlands and Australia. The cars look fantastic and are very robust and reliable. Tim Wheeldon stole the show last time out winning all three races but Graham Pattle is sure to put in a strong challenge. The 2011 Avon Tyres BRSCC Formula Ford 1600cc Northern Championship is now comfortably in to its second half, with tomorrow’s double header meeting being rounds nine and ten of this year’s campaign. Importantly, the meeting is also rounds eight and nine of the 2011 BRSCC Formula Ford 1600cc National Championship, helping to ensure we see both healthy grids and close, competitive racing across both the Pre-90 and Post-89 categories. John Murphy and a re-energised John Loebell are the respective Post-89 & Pre-90 leaders, and Murphy also heads the National points table. The Arrowpak supported Euro Saloon & Sportscar Championship will bring another healthy grid to Oulton, as they have done everywhere they have been this season. There is a very tight battle at the top of the points table where Class D’s Andy Jordan leads Richard Hawken (Class B) and Nick Hayes (Class C) by just 16 and 20 points respectively. The racing ladies have been the talk of the Alfashop Alfa Romeo paddock this year with Mel Healey, Emma Karwacki, Sarah Heels and Louise West all making their presence strongly felt at various times in all seven rounds so far and look likely to continue doing so. Mel leads the points table overall at the moment but will be missing Oulton so it gives Emma Karwacki a great chance to catch the Sutton racer. |
